Leylah gets broken, than breaks right back with SST serving for the opening set. To a first set tie-break we go.
Edit: A roller-coaster of a tie-break where Leylah saves three set points and eventually wins it 10-8

Leylah is looking pretty tired out there, she needs to try to end this in straight sets if possible. She just broke SST serving for set 2 at 5-3 so hopefully she can find that energy boost to hold serve and finish this match.
Edit: Holds serve and has come back from 2-5 down - We play on at 5-5 in set 2.

The doubles still need to be played as they could factor into a tie-breaker down the road, but Canada takes on Poland tomorrow who will be without Iga. It will be interesting to see who Heidi selects for the singles tomorrow.

I enjoyed the Challenger event tonight - first time at a live event.
Jacobs from High River did well beating a higher ranked American. Decent crowd for that one at Center Court. Jacobs will be in tough vs. Liv Hovde.
I would go back.
I saw Daniel Nestor!

Marina Stakusic was down a set and a break in set 2 and has rallied to force a 3rd and deciding set. Awesome stuff from the 18 year old.

A break of serve and Marina is serving for the match at 5-3 in set 3. Wobbled a little from being up 4-1 in set 3, but that was a great return game.

Leylah is on fire in the second match of the day and zips out to a 3-love lead.
Edit: Leylah wins the opening set 6-2. This is 2021 US Open Leylah form today.

Yes indeed!
And we also know Draxl's next opponent will be Inaki Montes de la Torre. The Spainard it seems pulled off a shock win over the 2nd seeded Aussie veteran James Duckworth 6-3 6-2.
Meanwhile Steven Diez has just been knocked out by lefty Aziz Dougaz 6-3 6-2. Too bad for the Canadian journeyman but he was never really in this match at any stage and he had a lot of trouble dealing with the big serving & hitting of the 8th seeded Tunisian.
Should Diallo make it past J. Sousa coming up soon he will face Dougaz next.
