Well this is a pleasant surprise! I turned the game off when it was 2-0 Nashville. Glad to hear they came back and won.

Kudos to Marky out-duelling Saros, especially after getting down 2-0 on the first five shots.

That kind of bounce back in-game deserves respect.

Why? Zary was a stud in the WHL.

Three beautiful snipes of goals, especially Hanifin and Coleman. It was clear Lindholm was trying to do the same on his SH breakaway.

Lots of high danger opportunities for the Flames in this one, they were generating a lot. Great to see.

Its increasingly clear that the Flames have a chance still as compared to the Oilers because we have foundational defensemen and foundational goaltending. For the Oilers, if McDrai don't score the house falls down.

I remember Treliving trading down twice in the first round to get a few extra mid round picks. Then after that we selected Zary, a smaller forward, of which we already had plenty. Alll this after getting bullied by Dallas in the playoffs.

In 1994 they re-formed, and of course released an album called Hell Freezes Over.

The following year, Miroslav Satan started playing in the NHL.

Coincidence? I think not!

I recall the reception here being really positive at the time as many liked Zary before the draft. And the Flames picked Jeremie Poirier with one of those extra picks.

The Flames had 19th originally, and the draft eventually went:
19. Braden Schneider
20. Shakir Mukhamadullin
21. Yegor Chinakhov
22. Hendrix Lapierre
23. Tyson Foerster
24. Connor Zary

The results look promising so far!

The best player in that group is Schneider who most of us were petrified the Flames would take

Zary is a PPG.

DeSimone has 3P in 2GP.

Zadorov had a great night, so did Kadri!

Overall we have a lot of positives, 3/4 lines that are working.

Sharangovich has found his game.

I'm glad we managed to comeback again, and that Hanifin is finding his scoring touch.

The PP sucked again, Huberdeau deserved to be benched, and the top line remains a mystery.

He's at 136 GP already, but I'm happy with the Zary + Poirier combo as it stands. We'll see how both players continue to develop.

I was getting bummed out about this game, thankfully the team didn't get that way and pushed back for a win.

He was, but he was undersized, not a great skater and his game seemed flashy and not fundamental enough for the NHL. That's to me, and I don't profess to have an eye for projecting talent.

He has developed well, though. No doubt about it. Hope he stays up.and continues to contribute.

There’s a bunch of good players that all went in that range, and if we were to hit a home run with Poirier as well that would be a hell of a draft.

I really hope that Zary can stay consistent with this level of play, if he has room to grow and improve then man he could be a real gamer for the flames.

I mean, if the combination of benching and the Flames good play without him doesn’t wake Huberdeau up, not sure what will.
