Sutter benched Iginla and Conroy one time in the 3rd period. Iggy came back and dominated the next game. Will Huberdeau do the same? I don't think so. His body language is of someone who is lost and defeated.

My guess is that maybe Huska told Huberdeau he's going to be benched this period at the intermisson and that's shocked and sparked the team to pick it up for him.

How does a player find out he got benched? Does he just sit there and start to notice he doesn't get tapped on the back when his line is up? Does someone talk to him or is it just sending a message by not sending them?

I mean, they have certainly turned it around since the Dube goal. I wouldn't say they had a great first really. 17 shots but I can't remember a single one, outside of that one shift with Kadri and Zary, being anything but routine for Saros. The early part of the second didn't seem great either though the push and energy had improved. Since the goal, just seems the weight's been lifted.
All aside though, it's clear Huberdeau's been struggling. Let's not hang more on him and basically say the team's better off without you.
