No thanks, given his performance with the BJs in contrast with Tkachuk with the Panthers, it's pretty obvious who was the straw that stirred the drink on that line.

this morning on 960, Marek was saying the Gaudreau benching was exactly what Kekalainen and Davidson wanted because the dressing room had become too lax and country clubish.......

sound familiar?

I’d take him back for Huberdeau tomorrow.

In his entire career as a Flame, there were precious few nights where it wasn’t enjoyable to watch Johnny Gaudreau play hockey.

Or…

Matthew went to a championship caliber roster and Johnny went to Columbus.

Aren't we forgetting the main reason he left is he wanted to play in an American market? I doubt that sentiment has changed.

Bring back Gaudreau, but only if we bring back Sutter. Johnny needs and thrives with hard arse coaches.

If going to work is miserable, it does not matter what city you're in

Someone mentioned he wanted to go to Philly - would he want to play for Tortorella?! Although another person mentioned he seems to thrive under a hard-a$$ coach...I just see him being fine collecting his $10 mil and playing in C-BUS where they aren't caring too much....

Wanting and thriving under are actually two different things. I just think he needs a hard arse to play well. Doesn’t mean he wants it, although I don’t know that Johnny really minded Sutter.

i think he can if we play a style that suits him more...those videos in the other thread were very compelling.

Well lets look at his production.

Harley - Hard ass
64
78

Gulutzan - a joke
61
84

Peters - maybe a blend
99

Peters/Ward - good guy
58

Ward/Sutter - players coach/hard ass
49

Sutter - hard ass
115

Larsen - no clue
74

Vincent - players coach
5 points YTD

Looks like a guy that is inconsistent year over year and needs a new coach to get him going every other year.

Thank you for showing how good of a coach Sutter is.

(She really liked it in Calgary because it was a place where she could have her own life with him away from his partying friends, along with genuinely liking the city)

Johnny's preference = Close to his family, party friends (Philly/New Jersey). Johnny would have taken New Jersey even at a lower contract in a heart beat, Columbus was the last minute compromise for them.
Dude, this sounds like complete and utter crap. First of all, he was married man, a soon to be dad and his best friend was a married Sean Monahan. Second of all, an NHL season is extremely busy filled with games, practices, recovery, media, commitments, travel and etc all within a short time span. If she was worried about his excessive partying, it would be the offseason when athletes have all the time in world to party. Long road trips would be a decent time to party as well but that's every team in the NHL.

So I fail to see how his location during the season would be a bigger deal than herself seeing as how she has actually live here 24/7. She doesn't get to travel for half the year, she doesn't get to go to warm climates during the cold snaps of the city. Her husband would be gone on road trips and leaving her behind pregnant and alone. It's probably not all that dissimilar to moving to a much smaller, colder city where you leave all your friends and you life behind.

I know friends who had to move to Saskatchewan for work and they absolutely couldn't stand it. They didn't know anyone, it was hard to meet people and they ended up just drinking themselves into alcoholism because of the loneliness. Honestly, I wouldn't blame anyone for coming into a similar situation and not being happy. Even if she did like it here, she definitely didn't get to build a life here like Johnny did over the course of 8 years. He and his parents were beloved here.

You people ruin every thread.

Bill Peters is just as good a coach as he got big bumps in points for those same players.

If you don’t think JG partied during the season you were never at Cowboys Casino late at night !

Also - Covid is no longer a threat to close the border to the USA . That played a big part in his wife’s desire to be in the US having a new child
