Isn't a hearing automatic when assessed a match penalty?
When we saw it both my kid and I said "that's 4 games - idiot".

Not to defend the play at all, but I feel like this happens 20 times a game near the crease? Someone goes down, a defender gives them a little cross check while they’re down/on their knees. Usually doesn’t result in the guy’s head bouncing off the ice.

Obviously he should be suspended, but I’m just surprised at the reaction when it usually doesn’t get one.

It was dumb, but it wasn't that vicious. ALso, the other player is fine (which shouldn't matter, but it does). Other factor is that he already missed almost a full game.

I think it should be 1 game, but I would guess it's 2

No, this doesn’t happen every game

The guy was down and they were not battling for anything , there is no reason for what Mangi did

His only defense was its probably wasn’t a hard check and the guy was not hurt

Mangiapane needs to stop trying to be some kind of tough guy. He's been this way for the last two years. He's not scaring anyone, he's taking dumb penalties and It's taking away from his game.

5 regular games plus 2 p/o games, at the minimum. This was extremely dangerous (never mind stupid).
