Another top pick, especially this year, gets them a player that either adds to their offense that is already top 5 in the league or a defenseman that is not ready until Draisaitl is gone.

Obviously never ideal to give that sack of crap organization a free shot to add talent since they can't add talent any other way but this Oilers team isn't a top pick away from winning. They need a complete remake of the team and especially the approach from the top of the organization down.

Well, true. It wouldn't change much for them. But if this is the year that the Flames can get a top 3 pick then I hope Edmonton gets its act together and doesn't luck into one like they normally do.

Even better, I hope the Oilers play well enough that they trade away this year's 1st round pick among other things, only to crash and completely fall apart after the trade deadline, therefore missing the playoffs by a wide margin and also not meeting the requirements to retain the 1st round pick.

That would be nice.

I don't know, but his imposter syndrome must be going into overtime at this point.

As much as I hate them McD/Draisatl will go on a heater and get them out of the bottom 5. It will mask over the problems and they’ll convince themselves they are a coach and a bottom 6 winger away from 5 Cups in a row.

Don’t worry about a high pick. The Oilers will hire Mike Babcock if it means they can somehow limp their way closer to the playoffs, even if they still miss.

They should have started their captain's skates three weeks ahead of training camp.

I'm so looking forward to the desperation moves to resuscitate the season and how they will backfire.

Is Sutter a legit rumor?

I'd prefer a more questionable hire like Babcock, much more up edmontons alley.

Worst 10 game start by the Oilers since 1993-94

Quote:
Edmonton got off to a horrible start, starting the year 3–18–3, before head coach Ted Green was fired and replaced by Glen Sather for the rest of the season. The Oilers played much better under Sather but still fail to qualify for the playoffs for the 2nd straight season, finishing 18 points behind the 8th seeded San Jose Sharks. During the season, Edmonton once again traded veteran players for youngsters, as team captain Craig MacTavish was dealt to the New York Rangers for Todd Marchant, while Dave Manson was shipped to the Winnipeg Jets for Boris Mironov.

Offensively, Doug Weight led the club with 74 points, while 19-year-old rookie Jason Arnott scored a team high 33 goals, and finish just behind Weight with 68 points. Shayne Corson and Zdeno Cíger each scored over 20 goals, with 25 and 22 respectively. Igor Kravchuk led the Oilers blueline with 12 goals and 50 points, while Bob Beers put together a solid season on defense, scoring 10 goals and 37 points. Kelly Buchberger was the team leader in penalty minutes, accumulating 199.

In goal, Bill Ranford appeared in a career high 71 games, winning 22 of them, with a 3.48 GAA and 1 shutout. Rookie Fred Brathwaite backed him up, appearing in 19 games, and winning 3 of them.

The Oilers scored the fewest shorthanded goals (2) during the regular season.[1]

There was one part in the 3rd period where there was one Predator in the offensive zone who had the puck while their line was changing, and all the Oilers backed off like they were defending on the penalty kill. It was pretty funny.
