Stephenson is a hugely underrated guy. And underpaid - if he feels like Lindholm that this is his chance for a payday, you’re right. But there’s only so many openings for a big salary centre in the NHL. Where does he go (or Lindholm).

Moser + 2 2nds for Hanifin would be nice, or Lindholm for Guenther and 2 2nds. I think Guenther is still a great prospect, already has 33 NHL games on his belt, not sure why he didn't make the team but I imagine he would next season.
Could also go for Geekie, Hayton, McBain, Jenik, etc. Hayton+ for Lindholm would also be a great grab.

I don’t see coyotes using draft capital on players without term. I have a hard time believing hanifin or lindholm would want to sign extensions with them. Coyotes play in a 5000 capacity rink and haven’t secured another arena deal yet.

Just goes to show the value of cap space in a rebuild/retool.
You can watch all the other GMs squirm to get under the cap and take their assets thank you very much.

You never know. The arena is only part of what it considered in signing. Arizona is not a bad place to live.

A player thinking about success may look at what Arizona has in the pipeline and think a little longer-term. Cooley, Guenther, Geekie, Simashev, But, Doan, Moser, and Hrabel is a really nice group of young players with high upsides. Regardless of where the team shakes out (Phoenix, Houston, or Salt Lake) they are likely to have a very good situation staring them in the face.

Shhhhhhhhh. Don't let the secret out. It's terrible here. Now excuse me, I have 7:52 tee time and overseed has come in perfectly.

Which is why teams like Buffalo, Detroit, and Arizona should be teams calling in on Lindholm and Hanifin. Both have an abundance in prospects and picks. If one of these teams want to take the next step, acquire a top 6/top 4 D that shows you’re serious. Obviously contact the agent and see if an extension can get done before a trade.

Some more tidbits on the 32 thoughts pod I heard this morning. The way Friedman worded things it sure sounds like the Flames may have pulled the Hanifin offer rather than he not sign it. He did mention Hanifin does not want to be part of a rebuild. Sure sounds like it will be another couple of weeks before the team starts to do something drastic. Friedman wonders if they get Wolf into the lineup soon.
He also touched on the Kent Johnson agency change. Sounds like it wasn’t that the old agent had done anything wrong so while it is not time to ring the alarm it is something to monitor to see if Johnson pushes for a change of scenery. That would be the perfect type of return for Lindholm in my opinion. Johnson+Boquivst for Lindholm (signed)?

Kent Johnson is exactly the type of player the Flames should be targeting. It's just hard to imagine that the Jackets are a team he would like to finish his career with even with Johnny there.

I also don't think he'd be on the table for Lindholm no matter what

Johnson was benched last night in the third period and only got 8:45 min of playtime, some speculation of whether he'll be in the lineup on Saturday. Interesting, if he wants out and they can get Lindholm in return, that seems like pretty good value for a team looking to exit their rebuild, no? I suppose it depends if they can get Lindholm signed though. Otherwise yeah there's no reason to trade a former high 1st round pick for 3/4 of a season of Lindy.
Fantilli, Lindholm, Sillinger would be a solid 1,2,3 though if they could find a way.

We’re kidding ourselves if we think Calgary is a more attractive destination for NHLers than Columbus.

Kent Johnson + boqvist for londholm would be a really strong return.
It would also quicken up the reset timeline, since they're already in their early 20s. Matches the rest of our prospects.

Fair question that I don't know the answer to. But one thing is for sure, both those players will be in demand as FAs if they get there. Some team will find a way to fit them under the cap.

It also has the fantastic attribute of being something that would never happen.

It'd be a pretty impatient move by Columbus. They have a chance for a strong 1-2 punch down the middle in Fantilli and Johnson, with the hope that Gaudreau is still useful by the time they are in their prime. Laine is still only 25.

Jarmo has been aggressive before but you’d have to think Sillinger is the odd guy out if they trade someone
