No, I wouldn’t say that Israel’s actions amount to genocide.
Same reasons as you mentioned for consideration - variables, intent, recklessness, regard for human life.
Ok. If that helps you sleep.
Intentional reckless carpet bombings of civilian areas with zero regard for human life.
State sponsored terrorism, theft, displacement and murder in the west bank.
Israeli Military intelligence releases intercepts of what they claim is Hamas' Western Jabaliya battalion commander ordering fuel be stolen from the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza. In the call the Hamas leader repeatedly justify this by saying that everyone "working as a government for the sake of the country". Also at least one doctor in the Gaza Health Ministry working closely with Hamas.

At this point its so clear how leaders on both sides perpetuate this conflict.
The Palestinians leadership has turned the disenfranchisement of the Palestinian people into a business. They siphon off aid. They collect taxes on illegal imports. The individual leaders have amassed fortunes in the 100s of millions and billions. If the Palestinians ever ceased being refugees or had full access to an export and import market that money would disappear.
Netanyahu, similarly, perpetuates the conflict as a means of keeping himself in power. He knows he's seen as a military leader amongst his political rivals. So as long as there's a war, he's in power.

Netanyahu had been using any means necessary to keep himself from facing the music for his blatant corruption and embezzlement.
He used Hamas for a long time to prop up his support since he's been telling everyone "he is the only one that can keep security in the region" but Oct 7 has destroyed the illusion of his security competence. Israelis are angry and he will not survive politically after the war.
Hezbollah, that other vipers nest of psycho's has posted a "Trailer" ahead of their big speech about Israel tomorrow which is sounding like a declaration of war. They even have frames that look like they're going to fire a nuke.
IIRC the US issued a warning at the start of this at Lebanon and Hezbollah not to get involved.
The US has two carrier battle groups in the Med, that includes the new Gerald R Ford with at least one guided missile cruiser, 4 Arleigh Burke class destroyers. The Dwight Eisenhower and its strike group that includes a guided missile grouser and 4 cruise missile armed destroyers should have arrived there a few days ago.
I'm sure that the American's have spend a bunch of time mapping out Hezbollah forces and have probably shared that information with Israel.
With the situation the way it is now, I'm pretty sure that the American goal here if Hezbollah starts launching rockets and attacks won't be some kind of ground action.
Iran is pulling the strings here, they want the final apocalyptic battle between the hated Jews and the West and the Muslim world.

Not a big fan of Piers but he isn't a coward, good discussion.
Great interview, and I agree, Israel will never accept a Palestinian state which is why they have been propping up Hamas to have someone to point to as a reason why the Palestinians can't have one and why they need to to bomb the Palestinians every few years to satisfy their hatred of the Palestinians.

I've read that Iran is preventing Hezbollah from entering the war, as that would eliminate their influence in the region. A Hezbollah war right now would substantially decrease Hezbollah rocket reserves and their fighting ability (which may already be decreased due to heavy losses in Syria). Without Hezbollah and Hamas, and a broken down Syria, Iran's influence decreases substantially. Iran needs the threat of Hezbollah's rockets more than they need the rockets actually launched.
Would sure be nice to do some satellite tracking. Just like it would be nice to locate the leaders of Hamas in Qatar and put a missile through their windows.

Maybe, I've read the same, but its Hezbollah, so who knows.
I expect that any declaration of "War" will result in a lot of air strikes from the US and Israel.

neither Iran or Hezbollah will escalate things, they will shout a lot and drop the odd mortar shell but that is it as that actually will encourage Saudi Arabia to get closer to Israel, also both Lebanon and Syria are on the brink of collapse and the risk that Turkey would sweep in and take both countries is very real

He and his cabal have never been interested in a peace process. Back in the day he was front and center throwing gas on the fire during the Death to Rabin demonstrations.
I'm increasingly of the view that the real division here is - or ought to be - between those who believe in peace and likely a two state solution, and those who believe in ethnic cleansing.
I think Hamas and Netanyahu's ilk both fall into the latter camp, and they should be rejected by decent people everywhere. How any reasonable person can look at those images - whether of kids killed in Israel or kids killed in Gaza - and think that their deaths is justified is beyond me.
