So they got two late picks, neither of which turned out at all.

Interestingly, if they had received the 2014 picks from St Louis and Pittsburgh, they would have had picks 21 and 22, who ended up being Fabbri and Kapanen. McCann, Pastrnak, and Kempe were all also still on the board at those picks.
Of course, at the time, the 2013 draft was considered a very strong one and a number of decent players were taken in the late-first and early-second... just not by Calgary.

Who all is considered a tradeable asset?
Zadorov, Tanev, Hanifin, Dube, and Lindholm
Maybe Markstrom or Vladar?

I think the Flames should be looking to trade Hanifin and Lindholm ASAP purely because an injury would be absolutely backbreaking for this organization. I would prefer we don't risk it.

That's actually very positive to hear he's still in Calgary. I don't see any reason he'd stay over here unless he was working his way to getting back with the Flames this season.

I'm sure I've missed it, but there is so much in this thread.
What veteran would likely get waived? That is incredible if they do it. But who? Vladar is the only guy i can see making sense.

I would add Mangiapane to the list, but Weegar and Andersson are the guys you keep. You have to ice a team, and they are the guys you want to be teaching the young additions how to play defense in the NHL.

Disagree on moving Hanifin and Lindholm ASAP - there isn't a market right now, because no one has cap room. Patience is important - the returns would be much better after New Year's, than now

Oh I think they are tradeable assets though. I don't mind keeping either

Good chance he may get picked up by a team with cap space that will want to give him a look. A team like the Coyotes would have nothing to lose by adding him.

In that case, absolutely no complaining allowed on the return.

Yeah that's not really how this works. If they trade both for a second round pick, I will be disappointed.
I don't think that will be the case though.
If the Flames can't get good value at 50% retained while taking on another $2.5M in salary to make it work for the acquiring team, criticism is deserved.

If it’s true that this organization was ready to dole out $60M to Hanifin, only for Hanifin to be the one to pull back, then this management group is truly hopeless. They quite simply cannot be trusted to hold the keys any longer and should be locked out ASAP. Give them the axe quick before they pummel this franchise straight into the ground for years to come.
The only ones more happy to see Hanifin sign for $60M would be Oiler fans because Draisaitl and McDavid would own him for close to another decade.

I'd throw Ramus in there. Have to get rid of that Oiler stink from 2 years ago.
That pairing in that series was prob the worst one we have seen in the playoffs ever!
