When the rumors came out about him re-signing were close I was disappointed and if/when he gets traded I will be happy as long as it's fair value.

Alright, let's look at what some Calgary Flames'ish style moves could be.

1. In reponse to Noah Hanifin walking away from negotiations:

To NJD: Noah Hanifin (50% retained)
To CGY: 2024 1st round pick, Chase Stillman

2. In order to help Huberdeau and move on from Lindholm because they won't meet his contract demands:

To SJ: Elias Lindholm, Dillon Dube, Dan Vladar
To CGY: Logan Couture, Anthony Duclair, William Eklund
(yuck)

3. To shake up the room:

CGY puts Blake Coleman on waiver. He's dependable, but he's not bringing enough. He goes unclaimed.

4. Christopher Tanev is traded closer to Christmas/or the Deadline

5. Nikita Zadorov is traded closer to Christmas/or the Deadline

Pre-Trade Deadline Line-up:

Sharangovich - Kadri - Zary
Huberdeau - Eklund - Duclair
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Ruzicka - Couture - Coronato

Zadorov - Weegar
Solovyov - Andersson
Gilbert - Tanev

Markstrom
Wolf

And we're all left wondering what in the hell is going on.

That's a good question.

Oesterle seems like the most-likely candidate to be waived, but I don't know how much of a shake-up that would be since he just signed this summer.

There was someone running around with a rumour of Eklund/Couture being on the table in a Lindholm trade, that was the basis for that one.

NJD could use the LHD if they want to go over the top - but you're right.

If he goes to Buffalo:

To BUF: Noah Hanifin
To CGY: Peyton Krebs or Isak Rosen or Jiri Kulich, 2024 1st

Dube honestly should be waived. He's ineffective in all three zones and would certainly qualify as a veteran player with how long he's been around. See if anyone bites, because I genuinely think he's trending toward not being qualified as an RFA.

The only guys I could see are Coleman or Dube. I think someone would actually claim Dube.

Surely he has some trade value though? Retain half his salary and wouldn’t you get something for the guy. Or maybe he’s radioactive for other reasons.

I agree he’s been bad but not that long ago he was a building block.

Neither guy has any protection from waivers as far as I know.

Coleman has a NTC but not a NMC. Dube doesn't have either.

Coleman is not the problem. Waiving him sends no message to Kadri or Huberdeau and is just dumb.
