Ras and Markstom screwed up in the first place and then allowed a pass through the crease

This is the correct assessment.
Raz’s whole approach was lazy. If he commits to tracking to that post, his job is to shut that pass down. He didn’t.
At the same time, Marky can’t let that pass go through his crease. His paddle should be down, and it shouldn’t get through

Huberdeau takes 2 hard strides and he is on the d side of Benn.

This was not on Markstrom, it's totally on Rasmus. Thought it was icing then didn't bother to hustle back to check the man, terrible

He’s a goalie. Not a defenceman. You wanted him where exactly? You said he should have not tried to play the puck. That has nothing to do with the goal.

Only person who ####ed up there is Rasmus. Markstrom ended up back where he'd be (a little less settled than he'd like but there) and there's no way Huberdeau could know Rasmus was going to #### the dog that hard. You still want to be there for the quick up by the d man who should be skating harder there.

To me that was a misread by Markstrom. Ras had adjusted his approach with the assumption Markstrom was going to play the puck. Then Markstrom pulled the chute at the last second leaving everyone exposed.

Sharks are likely the only team in the NHL worse than the Flames.
2nd last will still get a good pick and odds in the lottery.

Yup. And in fact Huberdeau and the rest of the first unit were intending to change. But Rasmus messed it up.
Flames were still the superior team in the period. Take the mistake and move on.

That PP only uses one D man. Huberdeau was the other high guy. Ben was 100% his guy on the backtrack and he was looking at his ass as he scored. End of story

It’s on Markstrom, he left his net so Andersson eased up. He has to be decisive if he’s going to play the puck. I’d prefer he just stay in his net myself. He’s terrible at playing the puck.

On replay - that wasn’t even Huberdeau’s man. It was Mangiapane’s. Huberdeau was coming from the other side of the ice.

I liked zary during his draft year and wanted him even pre trade down. Great to see him rewarded in this game, here's to a long career in red ahead!!
