How so? Either through deception or incompetence they appear to have misled Las Vegas, who may have been planning from the beginning to trade Dadonov somewhere else.

Is it fair that Ottawa gets to claim the player/agent didn't submit a no-trade list when in fact they did?

If the Senators purposely misled Vegas then this penalty is harsh but fair. Otherwise it's overly harsh and I'd be livid as a Sens fan.

If they knowingly skirted the disclosure they should’ve been docked hard. To argue otherwise is silly.

On the other side, for the new owner to get rid of Dorion is a bad move. Sure Dorion didn’t do much this offseason but a lot of his deals were really good in hindsight. Execs love any excuse to bring in their own person so I’m not totally surprised. But I think despite the initial criticism Dorion received, he was a very good GM. Just not the strongest personality to play the political game of charisma, though did a great patient job.

I thought Dorion has decent job managing to build a good team despite the distractions and hurdles provided by Melnyk.

His extensions of RFAs have been good (assuming they contionue their play).

The Debrincat and Giroux acquisitions weren't great. We'll see if Chychrun sticks around. I'm not sure about that Korpisalo contract worling out well.

The punishment doesn't fit past precedent and is incredibly onerous

Arizona lost one for doing fitness tests on CHL players. The precedent doesn't seem out of line at all.

I'm trying to determine which is the bigger punishment; losing the first rounder or hiring Chiarelli.
