That was the worst Flames game I’ve ever seen. Pick pocketed from behind several times early, shots against 21-7 after two double power plays yet! Oilers literally skating circles around the Flames. Markstrom kept it from being a complete blowout. I know there’s absolutely no chemistry on this team but they didn’t show up at all for the first half of the game. Zero compete/heart from a lot of players for the most part. They all knew what a big deal this game was for the fans and to show up like this is disgraceful

Yikes ... and you wonder why people hammered on you in the past for being negative?

That's almost psychotic.

It's a fan site. People want the team to do well. Being the first guy to jump on the first piece of negative news that comes your way as a badge of honour isn't the medal you think it is.

It was bad, but I've seen a lot worse out of this team. What were you expecting at this point? This team is literally the dead horse that you pretty much can't beat anymore.

I feel bad that fans bought seasons tickets under the guise that this would be better simply because it was going to be a more positive environment. We all saw how the players coach worked just 3 seasons ago with many of these guys and should not be surprised that the players coach isn't working again. Sutter quite honestly should be applauded for polishing this turd into a near playoff team last year.

Even when this losing streak ends, the ceiling is going to be catastrophically low in terms of entertainment value and compete. You just don't go from sucking to this level out of the gate to world beaters in this league, but we can all certainly expect the team to get it together enough to finish 10th or 11th in the conference if for no other reason than the management and ownership will keep enough part together instead of purging the assets that make sense.

Didn't watch the game but not surprised to see the result. How did Markstrom do? Hopefully, he doesn't go the opposite route this season and win a bunch of games that lead to a worse draft pick.

Almost everyone thought Treliving took him to the cleaners and instead he looks to have come out massively on top. That's good GMing, doing stuff that isn't obvious. Unlike the armchair GMing that Treliving did in Calgary ("Hey I need a top six RW and here's this big name, over the hill James Neal, perfect fit!!!!!"). When it came to team building, chemistry and finding players that fit, Treliving was a bottom of the barrel GM in this league and screwed this team over big time by creating a steaming pile of misfits.

So yeah "double down" on Panthers not winning with their core if that makes you feel better about the Flames situation. But they are actually really good compared to this mess Treliving left.
The lol was a joke...I was "right" about them like Miller was eventually "right." It was a joke about at my expense not yours. I was wrong about them 4 times before I was "right"

You are way too sensitive about the Panthers guy. I was just showing how easy it is to be "right" about a team with a specific core not winning a championship. He is bragging about calling the Tkachuk/Gaudreau era Flames not winning it all...like that is hard in a 32 team league.

It's highly unlikely any particular team does. Panthers are likely a middle to high middle team for the next few years but it's very unlikely a championship team.

Markstrom has been great so far this season. One of the few Flames that has.

I have said the Flames were terrible about 109 times, both things can be true you know

That 4th goal was ridiculous and 100% because of conditions. Flames lost the game in the first period.

Outdoor games are ridiculous, puck was bouncing around like a tennis ball. This is hardly defending the Flames who took the first half of the game off.

I have been a season ticket holder literally since the Flames came to town.

I and likely many other season tickets holders remain season ticket holders simply because we don't want to relinquish our seats. Sure we might well be able to get seats again when things improve, but likely not the seats we want.

If you were allowed to pause for a year or to, I'm sure lots would have taken advantage of that.

Good thing you aren't sensitive about the Flames!

When the Panthers get their core guys back in the next 2-3 weeks I think they'll start playing better. And they should be better than last year, clearly more deep this year. They won't be at the top of the standings in the regular season because Maurice wants them to play a more playoff style hockey now. But I think they'll be a tough out for anyone once they get there.

Flames and Panthers are both garbage.

Panthers ####ed their future in a different way - traded all their 1sts away.

At least the Flames' situation is salvageable with the right moves and direction. Huberdeau and Kadri can help them reach the floor if needed, and Kadri's buyout is palatable in a couple years.

I can't wait to see if any of the big and skilled guys we drafted pan out for the future club. We certainly aren't a big team, but being small AND soft just can't happen.

Okay great

Again the joke was at my expense

Miller is bragging about calling the last core not winning

He said they would miss the playoffs
Lose to Dallas
Lose to Edmonton

And he was "right"

I thanked him because that means I was "right" about the Panthers last season.

Enjoy the season...it's highly unlikely the Panthers win it all so my "prediction" is not really anything special. Like his.

They also traded all their firsts.

They had a heck of a run I can't deny...they also went from a presidents trophy to 92 points.

They are certainly better than the Flames right now but in this league that rewards failure that isn't always a good thing long term. Honestly they are a lot like the Flames previous core IMO.

.

Winning it all is always a long shot. I'm just saying they are better this year, that's my prediction. And if they make the playoffs, they'll be a pain in the butt to play against. They are physical and even if they lose, they'll kick your ass and make you pay for it.

So many things wrong and I wanted Huska to succeed but he's been panicky with the line-shuffling and things keep going from bad to worse. Lindholm started the season off well but when you put him out with Dube and Hunt against McDavid and Draisatl, you reap what you sow.

They need to stabilize. Rasmus being back will help but so would sticking with some sensible lines.

The silver lining is that they've already knocked themselves out of the pjayoff race which makes personnel decisions with pending UFAs a lot easier. They should all go.
