If there's one thing this team should not be doing any more of for the foreseeable future it's signing players to multi-year deals. Every time they do look what happens...

You're still getting mad about the losses?
Man I don't even care any more, because there's no way they'll get themselves back above .500 let alone compete for playoffs with how inept they are offensively. And defensively they're nowhere near dedicated enough from all 5 skaters to win games the Nashville way (2-1, 3-2..).
I'm just fascinated by this colossal drop off from guys that used to be quality NHLers and seeing how long these guys can get away with stealing money for leisurely skates.
The veteran group are basically con artists. They say everything they need to, then go out and do nothing that resembles what they say they need to do.

yeah I would prefer a 3rd. Anyone with any sense would.

Anyone with any sense would probably say that trading your leading scorer for a 3rd rounder and a player you could probably pick up on waivers this year is embarrassing.

If they tried hard from the start and not the midway point of the second period it might have been a game

For him and Huberdeau it's the same thing. Can't handle the pressure of being "the guy".
Not going to paint Sutter as a genius or anything, but yeah Backlund needed a bone to chase and keeping the C just out of reach was at least bringing the beast out of him on a pretty regular basis.

Another win from our pro scouts. We need to take a look at those guys.

Thank god Sutter’s mouth got him fired or he would have this team playing on track to draft 16th overall
Seriously, this is the best thing to happen

In hind sight, the hate on Sutter was really just a few of the players looking outwards rather than inwards to explain their piss poor play and inability to meet expectations. And rather than give the players tough love, some in the organization just enabled the players in blaming Sutter for their personal failings. It's a story as old as time, which makes it so incredible that so many people fell for it.
"But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
It's such an overplayed trope that Sylvester Stallone made 5 or 6 or 7 movies out of it.

Honestly what would you rather have RIGHT NOW
Toffoli signed for 4 years at 6M/Year
or
3rd Round pick
You have to pick one. I bet 90% of Flames fans take the pick

Can we just invite Daryl into the room to yell at them for old times sake? I don't think it will help or change anything, but would just be nice to know at least someone yelled at them

He just needs a coach and a system that isn’t built to minimize individual skill. Flames are so afraid of their lack of skill, that their coaching eliminates what little skill they do have.
…that said, Huberdeau sucks (just like the coaching).

Yeah, I think it is pretty clear at this point that Sutter was the only one in this disaster of an organization who could see the problem. The rest of them were deluding themselves into believing Sutter was the problem. Reality is a bitch.

Conroy won't "wizard" any hockey trades either, so this team is destined for a high pick.
Even though it's not what it was aiming for, that's exactly what's going to happen.
Hallelujah. We'll get some talent soon.

Your obsession with Sutter is comical.
He sucked, he was toxic, he deserved to get fired. based on how toxic he was he’s lucky he didn’t get fired with cause.

Yep, I take the pick.
Not having Toffoli on the roster directly improves the value of all of the Calgary Flames draft picks in 2024, so that’s cool.
Still, that Toffoli trade sucked and was stupid.

93 points vs 45 point pace.
What else explains the drop?

The big risk is that they Klingberg themselves and ultimately give up major dough relative to what the Flames are rumoured to be offering. Could be motivation enough to sign now if the offers are still open.
I think this is a bigger gamble for Lindholm in particular given his age, if his output drops again significantly.
