Wish they showed some foresight two summers ago and burned it to the ground before the best draft in a decade. The flailing after will only set them back for a much longer period.
Yep, they had the opportunity to do a rebuild fall right into their laps in the season where a generational talent was the #1 prize, but oh no!! We can’t say rebuild cause this team might just be good enough to sneak into the playoffs and if that happens who knows what could happen.

johnny come lately to the conversation this poster said the Flames would have been better off KEEPING him
Like honestly Toffoli would probably have 4 points in this lineup right now, his value wouldn't be going up
I'm sure we will enjoy the 3rd round pick and marginal player we got for him instead.
Who was it he was playing with last year when he recorded his best year that he wouldn't be playing with this year again?
Looking at the stat sheet noticed Dube -3, Zero shots, zero hits, zero blocks with 18 mins of ice time. Yikes. He should be the one playing on the 4th line right now. Sad this team can't even bench one of the regulars as theres no one that can fill the spot
Seems like Sutter was pretty smart not naming Backlund captain last year. What has he done exactly? Zero goals so far this year and didn't even face the media after the last dud. This is the guy leading the charge?

No problem stacking up the losses, but I'm very concerned they're going to lock down Lindholm and Hanifin, when every sign points to tearing it all down. Please please please management, see the team for what it is.
Those guys have to agree
Why would they want to be part of this
For several reasons the terrible start is the best thing to happen

You forgot crappy scouts. If Button is still a scout he should be fired before sunrise.
Steve Pleau is the former (and only) pro scout, now head of pro scouting. Flames have two new pro scouts now under Pleau's tutelage. May god have mercy on their souls (and scouting careers).
Button on the other hand, is head of amateur scouting and has a considerably better track record.

So you want the Flames to be slightly better like last year? and be locked into Toffoli for 4 years or more?
yeah I would prefer a 3rd. Anyone with any sense would.

Connor Zary says hello. 11 points in 7 games in the A so far and looked solid in the preseason. Although, I’d be hesitant to bring any of the kids up to play with these losers.
Huska seems like a good guy. I actually feel bad for him since he’s in a no win situation and this will prob be his only chance. For all Sutter’s toxicity he was still a hall of fame coach. In hindsight you could make an argument he pulled last year’s team up quite a bit higher than it should have been (and was even held back by bad goaltending).

All this talk about bringing Sutter back like it would actually change a thing. It was beyond just players that couldn't stand being around him. I also wouldn't put it past this ownership to attempt it believing it to be another "if we can just squeak in" plays.
Hiring Huska was always the safe and cheap play and the results shouldn't be surprising.
These losses wouldn't be so bad if the future wasn't already mortgaged and the goal wasn't to avoid rebuilding at all costs.
I can't think of a more consistently poor use of assets with no reward in sight.

My worst fear is the team turns it on in the second half to make a respectable season out of this.
Of course that's what will happen. They're going to go on a heater sometime before the trade deadline to make sure that Conroy is handcuffed and can't make any futures trades, they'll be in the race for that 8th playoff seed right until mid-April, but then fall a point or 2 short. This is the Calgary Flames, it is foretold
