I pretty much disagree with everything you say, but I don't think it's fair for some posters to pile on you as soon as you come back.

Appreciate it. I am going to stay out it to not derail this thread. I think some people think I am enjoying this, my posts are out of frustration and fear for the future. When you have family in this conflict and friends currently fighting as we speak emotions can be very high as I am sure you know. This is a terrible situation and me arguing on here is going to do nothing to change anything. Praying for peace but the light at the end of the tunnel has never been dimmer.

Shows how toxic the internet is when you have the actual Israeli and Palestinian posters putting aside their differences to tell everyone to act civil.

Tbf I am willing to admit I made mistakes with earlier posts in this thread, my mental health has taken a hit since this all has started and each day I hate turning on the news or going online. I also appreciate this website and do not wanna get more strikes on my record here. I realize my posts are coming from an emotional place so its best for me to let others discuss this topic. I truly empathize with the Palestinians and wish we could have had peace many decades ago. Peace and love

This is understandable. Things can get heated in a situation like this. I hope the best for you, your family and friends during this time.

Israel: go to Southern Gaza, you will be safe there
Israel: steps up the bombing in Southern Gaza
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/news.sky...south-12993277
That same day, Israel ordered all 1.1 million residents of northern Gaza to flee southwards to relative safety.
Since then, however, Israel has stepped up its bombing of the south.
Almost half of all new damage detected between 14 and 25 October was in southern Gaza (47%), up from 14% before the evacuation order.
While there was a decrease in new damage across the Gaza Strip during those two weeks, the level of destruction in southern Gaza increased by 85%.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Defence Forces declined to comment.

There is no doubt of the terrible mental toll that this is taking on everyone. I too am so sad, shocked, angry and upset. Watching the news is depressing. Some days I can't work. I have to stay off all social media, except for CP, as there is good discussion here.
I am thinking of getting some professional help.

I bet lots of those hamas fighters also scurried to the south, they might be crazy but they’re not stupid.

Hamas must have 50 million members with the amount of places they can be in and the amount of bombs dropped.

This is one of the many times where it is best to look at the data versus anecdotes. No arguement that Israel is bombing the south. However to suggest that they are bombing where civilian populations are moving is false. Below is a good visual...

An air strike on a four-storey building in Khan Younis killed at least 32 people, including 13 members of the Saqallah family, Ammar al-Butta, a relative who survived the attack, told the AP. He said about 100 people were sheltering in the building, including many who had evacuated from Gaza City.
“We thought that our area would be safe,” he said.

Big to admit, and I certainly encourage anyone struggling to look into professional help. Even just venting to a neutral party who you are paying to listen to you can do wonders. Wishing everyone the best.

This symbiotic relationship between Netanyahu and Hamas has been remarked on for years, by both friends and enemies, hawks and doves.
Yuval Diskin, former head of Israel's Shin Bet security service, told the daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth in 2013 that "if we look at it over the years, one of the main people contributing to Hamas's strengthening has been Bibi Netanyahu, since his first term as prime minister."
In August 2019, former prime minister Ehud Barak told Israeli Army Radio that Netanyahu's "strategy is to keep Hamas alive and kicking … even at the price of abandoning the citizens [of the south] … in order to weaken the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah."
The logic underlying this strategy, Barak said, is that "it's easier with Hamas to explain to Israelis that there is no one to sit with and no one to talk to."
Netanyahu's critics say that Hamas — with its bloodthirsty rhetoric, open antisemitism and stated intention never to share the land — played into the hands of a prime minister who also wanted to be able to tell western governments that Israel has "no partner" for peace.
Supporting Hamas rule in Gaza, those critics say, allowed Netanyahu to confine the Palestinian Authority to the West Bank and weaken it, dividing the Palestinians into two mutually antagonistic blocs.

And yet, Israelis keep voting for this guy. It seems Hamas isn't the only one not interested in a negotiated peace.

Reports, videos and updates out of Gaza has nearly been eliminated now as designed by Israel while they increase their measures and devastate the strip, cutting off all communications (phone and internet) in the area.
53 members of a UN group in Gaza have already been killed since Oct 7.
https://twitter.com/user/status/1717878743681663457
Only 14 countries (a collection countries in the bloc know as "the west") voted against the UN resolution for a cease fire, while the vast majority of the world voted for it. Canada abstained for optics.

Stop the indiscriminate bombing, stop the killing of multiple generations of innocent Palestinians and find a better way.

With regards to indiscriminate bombing, we will never know what the outcome / success is of this bombing. Every Hamas member that is killed will be listed as a “Palestinian citizen”. Nor will we know if the bombing is weakening Hamas by hitting their weapons cache or perhaps weakening them in some other way.
I am not saying I am for the bombing or against the bombing, because we will never truthfully know how effective it is against Hamas.

This is going to get really bad quickly - worse than it already was. Israel really needs to look itself in the mirror because what it’s doing is not working. They voted in an extremist who is going to light this whole tinder box. Palestine needs to crack down internally on Hamas and take their destiny in their own hands. Extremism on both sides is just going to lead to more deaths for both. More hate is going to perpetuate more hate. It’s sickening.

If you look at maps of where IDF bombs have landed, it’s clear they’re not targeting indiscriminately.

There's no chance UN organizations would have their workers in buildings with Hamas.

There’s actually no way to tell whether attacks are indiscriminate or not from a map alone. A map may be effective if you’re looking for something to reinforce the narrative you’ve decided on in your head regardless of fact, but other than that, maps alone tell nothing.
Here’s the definition, which should help:
Quote:
Rule 12. Indiscriminate attacks are those:
(a) which are not directed at a specific military objective;
(b) which employ a method or means of combat which cannot be directed at a specific military objective; or
(c) which employ a method or means of combat the effects of which cannot be limited as required by international humanitarian law;
and consequently, in each such case, are of a nature to strike military objectives and civilians or civilian objects without distinction.
