If Huberdeau pouted he never did it publicly, so I guess we'll never know. I thought he handled himself extremely well last year.

No no that is not how it works.

We just need to make things up.

No wonder clean up after toxic remains is a difficult job.

He didn't pout in the media during the season, but as soon as Sutter was let go he was talking about how more minutes, and being used in key situations would help him get his game back. Huberdeau's intensity and confidence also gradually faded throughout last season. As Coleman said in the post game, this team needs to start to hate losing. It needs to lose sleep over it. If Huby and Kadri play that way then I won't have a bad thing to say about either.
That's false.

Huberdeau worked hard all season, especially defensively, and along with Toffoli and Weegar were our best players the last 20 games of the season.

He led the team with 13 5v5 points in the final 20 games, and didn't really pout even though his role on the PP was reduced for those games (6th most PP time on the team in those games).

His play down the stretch last season was pretty strong actually, and was why some had hope he'd have a better year this year.

Didn't Walsh take multiple shots at Sutter. Including shots at the negativity and the lack of joy. Later shots at playing Huberdeau on the right side.

I honestly don't remember the hard work after the all-star break. I remember he had 1 goal in the final 14 games of the season. Also, didn't we play mostly teams out of the playoffs to finish the season off? Was he playing with Backlund or Kadri at that point 5 on 5?

Kind of disagree about Ian Mitchell. He's the kind of guy that ends up a long term bottom pairing on a good team. Sort of a frank musil, but with more offense.

I could see him being picked up somewhere.

Agree on Mitchell with respect to having some upside; former 2nd rnder, 'Berta kid, some good production in NCAA and decent production at AHL level as well. Good skating ability.
(he's a lot smaller than Frank Musil though)

Lofty scouting report from Sportsforecaster is slightly exaggerating of his potential:
"Owns excellent wheels and plenty of all-around mobility from the back end. Moves the puck well and is a very good passer. Is also a smooth defender who keeps things simple. Has some leadership qualities, too. Does not have ideal size (5-11, 173 pounds) for the blueline position at the National Hockey League level, so he must add bulk and get physically stronger. Also needs to work on his lack of power with his point shot.

Long Range Potential: Quality, mobile two-way defenseman with upside."

I actually see Carolina moving on from Raanta fairly soon. Kotchetkov is clearly the goalie of the future there. With Andersen already 34, they'll be looking to slowly phase him out as the #1.

So you can remember any shots at Sutter which was the agent, and him playing bad but nothing else?

And making up things like he was pouting.

Really not point in having a discussion about this ?

I think Huberdeau put in the work from what you would expect from a star player, but I think he has another gear in him that he can hit which I think is the next step in his evolution. I don't think he'll ever be known for his tireless work ethic or tenacity, but if he can bottle up that one game he played vs the Rangers after Allan-Walsh-gate, then he might just have a chance. He skated with purpose, was hard on pucks, played with some grit and made plays playing the right way.

He showed he can do it, but it's up to him to put in the work on a consistent basis instead of always trying to rely on skilled plays and risky passes to skirt around the work.

I initially said that his agent's messages were written with his consent/knowledge. If you're naive enough to believe they weren't, well, good for you. That's exactly what pouting is. Sure he didn't go out and say those things in the media himself but his representative did.

Yeah say what you want about Huberdeau but saying he was pouting or lazy is flat out wrong...at about the midway point of last season he had the best defensive metrics of any winger in the entire league.

He definitely went through his agent to make a point publicly. Anyone saying his agent did that without his knowledge is extremly naive.

I dont remember lazy plays last season except that one Minnesota game where everyone was ####).
He's had a few this season though.

Ottawa is gonna need some defence. Pinto, prospect and a first for Hanifin. We fully retain.

Restricted free agent so it would be just trading his rights.

The same agent who was tweeting pictures of Fleury getting stabbed in the in the back by Vegas without his knowledge?

My point is the guy is suspended for 41 games, doesn't have a contract, and Dorion sucks. Send them Tanev or Zadarov then lol
