Default Is Conroy the right guy?

Craig Conroy was taught all he knows about being a GM from the great Brad Treliving. He was here for Tre's full term and I'm sure had plenty of input as to what occurred during that period. Was it that nobody else wanted the job?

I am sure Conroy is a great hockey mind and a competent GM, but what this team needs is a fresh perspective, and I am not sure that Conroy is capable of that.

No, too attached to the players like his predecessor. Not convinced he can make the hard decisions needed.

Conroy also said that Tre often did things on his own without input.

So there's that.

I'll give Conroy more than 10 games before I start worrying about him. Tre was known to keep his cards very close to his chest/work independently and Conroy said he didn't agree with how the Tkachuk and Gaudreau situation was handled.

Huska isn't an inspiring head coach pick but I didn't expect them to splash for an expensive head coach when they are still paying Sutter 4 million

I think more fundamentally, the team needs a refreshed vision/strategic plan for this team from the top - and I'm implying higher than Craig Conroy.

He's just a guy, he really has no power over the direction of the team.

He couldn't simply pivot and start a massive rebuild, that needs to come from ownership.

This is feeling like the end of the Iggy era so maybe Edwards throws in the towel.

Huberdeau and Kadri contracts complicate things though. Same with the conditional pick to Montreal

Way too early to judge the GM and coaching.

It really doesnt, Button, Treliving, Sutter, Trelving were all awful GMS, hence the track record of 0 conference finals in 20 years. Why would Conroy be any different? Getting hopes up for no reason if you think he will be different. His Toffoli move already looks weak.

Yes, but not too early to hold people in positions of power with this team accountable. The fans need to make things uncomfortable if we want change.

Hard to say. For the team as it stands now? I have my doubts. He's really up against it. It's a harder situation than most new GMs inherit. And no one around the league is going to go lightly on him.

What the team needs is a fresh perspective, intellectual honesty, and someone willing to push back on the owners mandate to make moves in the interest of the team's future that might require delayed gratification/results.

It's two weeks into his first season...............why are we having this convo. If the team was having success right now, it wouldn't have to do with Conroy yet. The fact they aren't succeeding has nothing to do with him right now either.

He's the sacrificial lamb hired to work through Treliving's mess. As soon as they tear it down and get draft picks, he'll be fired and they'll hire the guy they really want to do a team build.

Kind of early to judge, lets see how the season goes. I think he was dealt a bad hand from the previous GM and the signings. Really needs a couple years to put his stamp on this team, which includes drafting, trades etc.

Because every game they play Lindholm and Hanifin the Flames are risking either one getting a long term injury and losing them for nothing in the offseason. Both should have been traded over the summer to avoid the risk but they are f’ing around trying to sign them.
