It's a concern for the organizaiton for sure.

I'm not sure I've seen the Flames run as many promotions as they have this year to try to get fans in seats.

Really if Edwards was thinking about things the right way he'd be aiming to cut salary for the next 3-4 years, try to accumulate high picks, re-build and then start spending again when new rink opens.

Honestly that’s good. Now that there’s an arena deal that’s going to keep them in Calgary for 30+ years, ownership can’t threaten to move. It’s time fans condition N Murray Edwards that there’s only three stages of team that will get people to buy tickets: An actual Stanley Cup contender, adding young players and developing into a legit Stanley Cup, or bottoming out to transition towards a rebuild. No more of this Aqulini style refusing to give up on a faint hope of playoffs crap.

Meh. I disagree. I thought the pivot that Treliving did was ballsy and could have worked, but it just hasn't. The real failure is not pulling the plug after last year when it was obvious this group wasn't going to have any major success together.

At what point does the sheer embarrassment of cashing these cheques make a player void the contract entirely

Very true, but common sense is kryptonite to this organization.

Are the coaching staff of this team dumb?

That should be a joke or hyperbole but I'm afraid it's a serious question right now. If there are three players on this team that have never ever shown an ounce of chemistry or an ability to play with eachother its Kadri/huby/lindholm. Let's put them all on the same line!!!

How many times do you think Kadri needs to turn the puck over before he sits? Single handedly puts the team down on the pp and stays on the ice?

This is a bad team. Huberdeau looks lost, Kadri looks completely checked out. Would love to see them turn things around but right now it looks like it’s going to be a looooooong 6 or 7 years.

That's fair, but I'm done defending "the summer of Brad"

Those were terrible contracts made shortsightedly in the wake of an emotional departure.

Ballsy for this team would be admitting failure with that core and taking the logical next step to redeem the future of the team.

Pretty soon they'll be giving away tickets just so they sell beer.

Problem is no teams had any cap space to really make those type of deals in the offseason.

If they are being honest with themselves the key now is not panicking and making a move to try to "salvage" this season. Don't re-sign any more of the UFAs, trade them at the deadline, and hope for Celebrini, Eiserman, Silayev with a top 3 pick, and maybe Iginla if you can pick up a second 1st round pick.

The answer is yes. Getting the blender out every single game is beyond idiotic. Nobody is ever developing chemistry that way.

Why is it like this?

Maybe the team needs a good, old fashioned, player-coach. Heck, give the clip board to Kadri. Maybe that will force him to be accountable

If only Huberdud and Crapdri did something useful. Ever. I can't believe that $18M buys you that much lack of inspiration. One of the terrible things about guaranteed contracts. They work for the players, but for sure not anyone else.

What plug would you pull? Trade Toffoli? Done. Would you have traded Backlund, sure I can get behind that. Can you trade Huberdeau and Kadri, no they are worthless. They may still trade Hanifin and Lindholm. Trying to pivot to a 30 year old and a 32 year old was never going to work longterm and was unlikely to work short term.
