New young kid moved in across the street.

Has like an F950 giant diesel truck.

Fires that thing up at 6am every morning and shakes the entire neighborhood awake. Let's it run for an hour.

Fun mornings from here on in.

I think letting your car warm up in anything above -10 is one of the most dramatic things you can do. “I can’t go out there until it’s the same temperature as my cozy bed!” It’s ####ing embarrassing.

Summer or winter my dad would get in, start the engine, roll a cigarette, light it, open the window a crack(more if it’s warmer outside), put in gear and go.

I don't care what anyone says smoking is awesome.

Don't get me wrong, I don't smoke, can't afford it.

But I am 100% on the smoker, non smoker alliance. It's a god damn cultural institution.

When I was a kid I stood at the cold bus stop freezing my ass off. And there was a dude that lived right near there that every winter morning had his car warmed up and toasty.
I vowed to be that guy.
And I am.

I had some absolute donkey tailgate me, flash his brights, and honk at me this morning because I was going slightly under the speed limit... on a 200 meter icy stretch of a 50 km/h residential road in Airdrie. This has gotta be the type of person that goes home and slaps his family around.

It's probably the opposite, he goes home and has nobody but himself. Just another high strung virgin.

People think it’s some sort of test of strength to get into a cold vehicle.

Sorry pops, the sun is dying. I can afford to get into a warm vehicle so I’m going to do that.

To be fair there is really no reason to go under 50 when the speed limit is 50. Ice should be of no consequence at that speed if you have winter tires.

First of all, it's his right to drive under the speed limit. Secondly, you should be driving according to the conditions of the road, which may be under the speed limit, and thirdly, it's not okay to harass another driver.

It can be annoying being behind someone driving slowly in this weather. But do we really want people who are nervous on these roads (or don’t have winter tires) driving faster than they’re comfortable with because some impatient jackass is in a big hurry?

No. We don't want them driving at all. If you can't drive your car without being a source of increased danger to other motorists - including by driving excessively slowly in comparison with the flow of traffic - you shouldn't drive it at all.

EDIT: Not necessarily saying this applies to OOTC; going roughly the speed limit on icy roads seems pretty reasonable to me.
