The game was pretty boring to watch lol. The dome is quiet even when the team is doing well.

The team would be in the same situation if they stayed or 1 left and 1 stayed.
If both stay we lose other players.
Don't think Tkachuk does what he did in Florida in Calgary last year especially with his issues with Sutter.
We got dealt a pretty crappy hand. Both guys suck it up for 2 plus years and have career years in contract years.

Some of the blame has to be on a near 8 pm puck drop on a Tuesday.

Huberdeau, Kadri and Markstrom, 23.5 million wasted. Last night the Rangers goalie was better than ours.

Awful excuse. 8 pm starts are not uncommon. Most Wednesday or Saturday games are at this time. and imagine how late it felt for the eastern team

Still though. 1 goal might win you 3 to 5 games in a season.
The flames need someone who can shoot the puck in the net. Toffoli filled that role last year.

Briere and Drury left Buffalo after 06/07, they narrowly missed the playoffs the next couple years, then made it twice, then bottom fell out and they’ve been adrift for 13 years. That’s the closest comparable I’ve seen.

7 games into the season and i feel numb watching this story play out, my apathy has completely set in. What even is this team. Unfortunately the rot starts at the top with Ownership and trickles down into every hockey ops decision.
If they sign Hanifin and Lindholm and triple/quadruple down on THIS core I will actually consider not watching games this season. I don't know what else a single fan can do. Rebuild FFS. Murray Edwards has got to be the worst owner in sports. Spending to the cap with a mid roster without a single top-end talent from G to D to FW doesn't make you a great guy, it makes you a fool.
The opportunity to rebuild 2 summers ago was so blatantly obvious to most of us but instead Tre chose the supposed "win-now" package, then last season when it was obvious to most of us that the season was going down the toilet and we should sell at the Trade Deadline.. we chose not to, and went into the draft with our own single mid-round pick, in the deepest draft in 10 years lol I mean honestly we could go on and on but the fact of the matter is, this franchise is spiraling with no end in sight, and no real plan in place that I can see.
IF the Flames were to trade Lindholm and Hanifin at the deadline for picks, and give this team an injection of young talent (hopefully at least a single gamebreaker) I will take it all back. With that being said, I'm fully expecting retirement contracts to be handed out over the next 1-2 months to both guys so that the team can try to spin the narrative that this is a great place to play or some other BS. F me.

And if the third goal didn't go in was anyone really confident they would be able to tie it back up the way the game was going? I sure the hell wasn't.
Shesterkin made two really good saves but one was Jordan Oesterle shooting it right into his pad.

I don't know, Dallas had Benn & Seguin and a few others and still was successful in rebuilding that thing quickly.
You don't HAVE to strip things down to bare bones if you are willing to have short term pain and a culture people want to be part of.

What does that even mean? Allowed a soft af goal that 95% of major junior goalies would stop. Sure wasn't the winning goal, just the back breaker.

Yeah, but Dallas is such a hard example to follow. In one draft, they got
- a top 5 D man in the league
- a 40 goal scorer / Richard trophy Candidate
- a top 5 NHL starting goalie
While being in a location players want to be (Pavelski year after year on one year deals)
Sure, while it's possible, its highly unlikely.

Think the saving grace is I don’t think they can afford to do that capwise. Can’t have the whole team on 8 year big dollar contracts.
Math might just save them from themselves.

Totally. But so is the Edmonton possibility of winning the lottery every year (despite the joy of their failure to win AFTER that gives me).
The real plan is somewhere in the middle. Struggle through a couple years, create a culture people want to be part of, build the team from the bottom.
