I truly like Big Z. He's a fun player to watch particularly when he goes for a little ramble, and he re-signed with this team when they were at their lowest. And I like the fact he's very plain spoken and provides honest answers.
But you need to be careful signing a guy like him. There is a lot of risk in that type of deal for a player who's career has been inconsistent. Was last year the guy he is going forward? He's probably looking for term. He references that he's moved around a lot. I think he sees this probably as the most important deal he will sign in his career.

So you gotta be careful. Nice that he's said he wants to re-sign. But for how long and at what $$$.

So now cheering for Bennett and Tkachuk is actually cheering for the Flames interests as well?

This is awesome. I get to double dip.

Yup. Best outcome for the Flames is for Florida to make the playoffs this year and then go deep again next year.

Yeah, I expected defence to be a bit of a mess but it sure is feeling like the offence issues weren't a systems thing.

I appreciate the effort but what even is this trade lol

I think the Panthers will be a bubble team not bottom 10...90 some points. Question is will that be enough

LOL

Salam Valji at it again. Hurrying to type up the quotes before the video is released so make it seem like this is a team in tatters in the dressing room.

Just the absolutes worst reporter you could ask for in this city, clearly has an agenda and has had it since day 1.

Those comments are not even that bad when you listen to the interview in context.

Embarrassing stuff from him once again.

Wouldn’t this stretch of games be a good time to bring Solovyov up for a few?

Zary, Klapka and Poirier have combined for 22 points in 4 games. Kids are knocking at the door for sure.

I find it hard to believe the media would take quotes out of context and post them with the intention to create a story where there is none.

I find it even harder to believe that fans would then read those quotes and flip out, overreact, read way too much into them and draw conclusions not based in fact.

What an unrealistic scenario that would be!

haha yeah it is dumb. Basically best case scenario is that Flames make the playoffs this year and the Habs take the pick. Ideally with Lindholm and Hanifin traded lol

Zadorov is extremely smart, competitive, and clear-headed. I wonder if he’ll go into coaching when he’s doing playing.

Let's see how this team responds now.

Whatever this team can become, what they are at this moment is anything but a team. Bottom 6 I have no issues with (Backlund's line or the 4th line).

The top 6 are such a mish-mash of lost puzzle pieces from widely differing sets of puzzles, and it feels like someone is trying to hammer them into one another to fit. Hopefully Zadorov has it 100% right and it is about some players playing for themselves, rather than a complete lack of chemistry.

Identity was brought up, and I was actually thinking about it this morning and almost posted about it. What is this team's identity? I honestly think that this term gets overused in hockey, but even in vague terms, what is the identity of this team?

They are not a high-scoring offensive juggernaut. They are not a stingy defensive team. They are not a fast team. They are not a physical team that is intimidating to play against. They are not even a particularly hard-working plucky team giving other teams fits. They are.. a puck possession team? That's the best way to describe them, but yet it doesn't feel like it accomplishes much.

I am hopeful that the talk the players had today, coupled with Zadorov going public with it, really lights a fire under their butts and forces them to work together. I can't say that I am watching a team that isn't working hard. Yep, Huberdeau unquestionably coasted on that backcheck and I hope he Huska roasted him for it, but I can't say that he has been a constantly lazy player. I don't think anyone has been. They just look like I described earlier - a mish-mash of different puzzle pieces to different puzzles that can't fit together. I am hopeful that Huska can use these puzzle pieces and become the Jackson Pollock of coaches.

I do think it is difficult for talented players - particularly playmakers - to look good when there isn't much in the way of chemistry. Chemistry can be impaired by the wrong types of players together, or through having the wrong mindset. Hopefully it is the latter, and this team can get on a bit of a roll starting tonight, and figure this out together.

Nobody at CP would EVER do that......

I’m not sure what the issue is. Maybe he’s got a good idea but still undecided on a couple guys? Maybe someone has a nagging injury? Maybe he knows but doesn’t want to say? Who knows. Seems like nothing to be concerned about.

coaches often change the lines after 1 shift

also, maybe he just doesn't want to tell everyone including the opponent

I’m so glad this is the case
I was getting extremely concerned that this collection of proven professionals were losing focus of the very reason the league exists

Fun!

Only an issue because it was a disaster on Sunday when he went back to the 22/23 lines for no reason.

To build chemistry you need time, and it seemed like he pulled the rug to quick after some positives signs.
