I'm not surprised - don't think Bettman has ever really reduced a suspension.
I look forward to a worse hit getting no games or fewer than 4 games because the NHL Department of Player Safety is a joke.

If the sentiment here is that the hit itself was worth a 2 game suspension, then what should be added to it for the context of the hit (5 seconds left in regulation with the game out of reach)? 1 game? 2 games? 0?

Can blame Bettman all you want (and you might be right) but it's still on Andersson to not injure Laine with a stupid, unnecessary hit. I get why people are mad but I can't feel too sorry for Ras on this one.

The reality is these hits should be 4 games at least, the problem with the previous suspensions not being as long isn't that this time it should be less it is that those were too light.
Hopefully this is a sign that the NHL is taking these hits seriously as they should. The outrage should come later if a hit isn't given the same suspension not now because the NHL has given out way too light suspensions in the past.

this league is killing the golden goose...not just on this
Canadian teams taken for granted. Always the harshest reffing, stiffest penalties, drafted and developed players leaving to southern teams, nobody signing in Canada unless they get paid way more, higher cost of tickets, terrible media production on TV and Radio ect...attendance is already tanking.
We will see how long Florida and Caronlina can prop up league revenues for Gary
I have my doubts about the salary cap increasing forever
Im about as big a hockey fan as it gets and I spend ZERO dollars on the NHL

Really don't think his intent was to injure Laine he was just going for a hit, it was unfortunate.
It was a split second thing decision to go for the hit.
