I thought Big Z has stated on multiple occasions that he wants to be here long term. Just that management is prioritizing the other higher profile upcoming UFAs first.
Either way, Big Z is a 4-5 D man who most teams would be happy to have despite his occasional bad games. I think he brings an element the Flames need (toughness, reach) that the other D just don't have.

More like this year, they are missing their top two defensemen in Ekblad and Montour still for another month or two. Also Bennett hasn't played a single game yet and Tkachuk looks timid and not himself (probably do to the injury he had). Four of the six guys on the defense are new compared to last year and it's been a rough go so far. But I'd still be surprised to see them miss the playoffs.

Not to mention, he knows what he is here, a 4/5 and this team is going to have no Cap to keep him.

I'm surprised they haven't waived Vladar and brought up Wolf. Seems like the right move to make. Can't see anyone trading for him at this point. Maybe he can work on his game in the AHL and get it back to NHL level again but either way Wolf has earned his shot.

Re: Zadorov word was he wants to sign but was disappointed he hadn't heard from Conroy (at least thats how he made it sound in an interview during camp).
As for the call out, I wonder who he's specifically targeting.

The team isn't even playing that bad, to come out on a gameday with these comments is dumb.

Probably the $10.5 million guy that refuses to back check and would rather give the puck away in the offensive zone than protect the puck and battle for it.

They played 1 bad game on that trip and really it was on the coaches.
Starting Vladar and blowing up the lineup for no reason.
If we played poorly vs Columbus I could see making some changes.
We didn't even practice, they had a skate the day before that's it.
Real poor move on Huska's part. Last game of a road trip tired group lets just screw it up here with these new lines, and ones that did not work last year.

Wasn't that the excuse last year? Ekblad is always hurt, can't count on him playing a full season
East is looking tough, no 92 point playoff teams this season IMO. Might need 100 to get in.
I think it's fair to call them a bubble team, they were last year. 17th overall, that's about as middle as you can get.

If replacing the Coach isnt going to do it, and re-signing your Captain isnt going to do it...Nuclear options appear to be required.
