I think just a little over 24,000 in the seats with the Riders still having a shot at the playoffs and playing the best team in the league (record wise) speaks volumes. No way they can return with the two Craigs (Reynolds and Dickenson). Might as well totally clean house and give Jeremy O'Day his pink slip as well.

I dont think so, posted had good points. Forget the grey cup.. 6-12 and making the playoffs is fairly embarrassing for the sport.

I remember not so long ago Rider fans taking big dumps on Calgary attendance (which isn't good either) with comments like "a lot of fans dressed like seats", "if the seats weren't red we'd really see how bad the attendance is" or if Saskatchewan was in town "It's like 2/3 green in the stands!!". I didn't notice a massive Rider contingent at the game a couple of weeks ago, certainly not like prior to 2020.

Not good for either team really.

I think I heard a stat on a recent broadcast that over the last two seasons, the Riders have a record of 1-13 in September and October. Yeesh.

Flagship franchise lol. Today that's the Bombers and before them it was the Stampeders for a decade. Riders fans can come out of the woodwork for a decade and declare themselves the flagship franchise of the CFL but flagship franchises are the ones that win consistently.

I wonder if they fire Craig this week or next?

And here in lies the truth of these ‘new, fancy stadiums’ arguments. People proclaim McMahon is a dump, which I agree, yet sask has this beautiful facility and people still don't show unless the team is doing well. Goes to show the new building aura only has so much pull. And it’s immensely better than what they had before yet unless the field entertainment and performance is there, the draw to go to the new building is short lived.

I just looked and I think it's actually worse, 1-14. The only win they had in all those games was a 32-30 OT win against Winnipeg at the Labour day game, and they followed that up with a 51-6 loss in the Banjo Bowl. So I guess I can see why attendance is dwindling.

Yeah, I think that stat I heard was just prior to Saturday's game against the Argos. Thanks for confirming, 1-14 will certainly have a drag on attendance.

Saskatchewan expected to announce later today Craig Dickenson will not return next season.

EDIT: Jeremy O’Day has been renewed. Incompetence at its finest. Lmao

I know it's very early to be already looking at 2024, but Shawn Bane is a free agent and if the Riders don't sign him prior to free agency, the Stamps should bring him back to Calgary. He had 93 receptions for 1104 yards and 4 TDs with predominately Mason Fine and Jake Dolegala tossing him the ball.

They shouldn't have let him go in the first place. That said a new QB needs to be Dave's biggest priority this offseason.

When has the Roughriders been a marquee or flagship franchise? before or after fans dumping manure on players lawns?

Flagship franchise?
Never.

Self-proclaimed flagship franchise?
Always? Since 2003?

Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, Toronto (Flutie years), and now Winnipeg come to mind in regards for flagship franchises going back 40 years. Regina has never, ever been in that conversation.

After all the booing that Henry received every time he played at Mosaic Stadium, this would be hilarious if it came to pass.
