What I really don't appreciate is when the person in front hammers their seat back with no warning. Do me a favor and recline a little slower so I can get my laptop out of the way.

Nope. Direct your rage at the airlines not the passenger.

Or direct it at the collective 'us' who want cheaper and cheaper flights.

People wax poetic about how flying used to be more comfortable, but that's because it used to be way more expensive. You can still have the comfortable experience, but it is still really expensive. Flying is only affordable because they cram us in there like crazy.

Yep, it’s a race to the bottom,

I’d trade getting hijacked more often for getting rid of security time and costs and I’d trade my seat for a standing rail for shorter flights.

Reclining is more of a grey area for me, it depends how far they recline. Also time of day (red eye I get it more), and also how tall they look. If their head is way above the seat, I assume they're tall and will let it slide more. Also how long is the flight?

If you appear shorter, it's the middle of the day and a far recline, and like a 2 hour flight, yeah I got beefs with you. Unnecessary and comes off as inconsiderate.

I'd be happy if the reclining feature was removed from every flight tomorrow. Short flights, trans Atlantic, I don't care, get rid of it everywhere.

ok but my point is that people are getting, lets just use bull#### #s, a 2 out of 10 increase in their comfort, and, causing the person behind them a 4 out of 10 annoyance and discomfort. Its a tiny benefit for a huge pain in the ass.

A 2 out of 10 increase in my pleasure for a 4 out of 10 increase in somebody else’s annoyance doesn’t seem like a bad trade-off. Maybe you should exaggerate the BS numbers a bit more. A 1 out of 10 increase in personal pleasure for a 7 out of 10 annoyance increase makes the argument sound more convincing.

after reading the last bit i had a thought and then laughed... imagine a 'cp' chartered flight and there of course would be cameras mounted throughout the plane to capture everything!! we're all on this plane and know everyone's flying pet peeves... think of the hilarity that would ensue as you just know guys would do what they could to get others going...
endless reclining
crying babies
dogs and cats in the plane ('assist animals' of course)
people taking two seats
mouth breathers
wearing too comfy or not comfy enough clothing
talking on speaker phone
accessing over head storage

the list goes on and on - it would be awesome.... or pure hell, depending on the guy! ha! ha!

F that. If I’m flying overseas overnight I’m reclining, and so are you too anyways.

I'm not a fan of recliners but fair enough, as long as it's done with some thought towards who is sitting behind. Last transaltlantic flight I did in the summer the person in from of my son slammed the set back and then proceeded to thrash around every few minutes doing whatever it was they were doing. Proceeded to knock everything off his tray multiple times. And then sat up half the time anyway, leaning forward into the seat in from of them.

Don't forget people who sit in the window seat in a normal daytime flight, and just keep the window cover down the whole time: one of my pet peeves when I'm not able to book window and I see that. I love looking out the window on flights and seeing the topography, just switch me seats if you don't care!

Window seat isn’t about looking out the window

It’s about only having 1 person next to you

It’s about only having to move from your seat when you want to move

It’s about not having people bump your shoulder as they go poopoo

I get the window seat and keep the window closed and I recline my seat.

You want a window or more room? Pay for it.

Some perks of it, but they should call it a wall seat then instead of a window seat if that was the only point.

Some of us started their wanderlust later in life and still have an excitement of travelling to new places including seeing new areas out the window, its my little TV show whilst flying...don't steal that from me if you don't care please!

I'm not moving for you when you have to pee lol

(And yeah I do book those when I can. There's been the odd flight where they're all booked up already)

I check if the person behind me has reclined. If they have reclined I am 100% in the right to do the same. Don't care if you are fat or tall or whatever. That's the only criteria that matters.

And really tallies? Everything on earth is better for you as a tall person. Only thing in your existence that's a negative is planes and not being good in gymnastics or horse riding. No way you get a better seat also! #tallprivilege
