The New NHL App

Has there ever been a worse app development than this? I checked the scores while out earlier and it showed a pulled goalie in the first period of a 0-0 New York-Seattle game, and a pulled goalie in the 3rd period of a 3-3 Columbus-Minnesota game. On top of showing Brock Boeser as the owner of the Oilers as someone posted in another thread.

Their own app is the most inaccurate source of information about their league.

I don't use the app, but the recent redesign of the website is horrible.

The new app is awful, something as simple as rotating on a tablet, rather than staying longways like on a phone, nope can't do that. Trying to find highlights, let alone getting them to play is a nightmare.

it always is ... I feel it gets worse with every redesign. The new one is absolutely terrible, I have no idea what goes into their thought process. If it's "let's make it worse for no reason", they've surely succeeded. Again.

I have been very disappointed with the app. I'm a sucker for punishment and keep trying to use it but it is always failing at what I want to get.

The old app used to move scores for completed games over to the right so popping up immediately were games in progress. The new app forces you to scroll through all those final scores to find games in progress. I hate that.

Finding highlights used to be easy. Now it’s brutal.

They should have some fans beta test this before launching it. If they did, they chose idiots.

But they did!! They gave it to some of their 90-year old Board of Governors and Owners and they told Gary it was great. So that's a done thing, like Pride Tape.

Last year's design was many years in the making. The NHL did a website/app overhaul in 2016 that was disastrous and it appears history is on repeat.

It always seems like the NHL hires people who have no interest in hockey and task them with "make a website/app for people who don't like or care about hockey". And this is the inevitable result.

When you look at player pages for goalies in the new website, their season stats do not include GAA or SV%, but do include Goals and Assists. Because we all want to know what a goalie's offensive output is first and foremost, right?

The sad reality is the NHL probably pays a company like SAP an obscene sum of money to produce such a thing. Think tens of millions of dollars over the course of several years.

Are you checking your scores on Wikipedia?

Yes, the app is horrible. Can’t change dates easily like you used to be able to. Clicking on a game takes you instantly to an ad before a highlight. I just want to see who assisted on a goal FFS.

The scrolling up and down on the mobile app is terrible and very clunky for me. Not smooth at all.

It used to be you could choose your favorite team, so that when I opened it, I'd see the Flames score and upcoming game times in whatever time zone I was in. Now it just shows league news, which if I wanted, I would not put a team on there. Ugh.

There is a way to change that, but I don't remember how. It was annoying me too, so I dug through the settings until I found a way to get it back to defaulting to the Flames again.

Mine shows Flames content when opening.

Set your favourite team and your default tab.

I loved the Flames calendar on the previous app. Listed all Flames games and told me what my game time was locally. Super helpful.

Now the app doesn't even take me to the correct day when looking for real time scores. What a joke.

Alerts are slow. Sometimes they come twice. Sometimes not at all.

Absolute disaster. I used to open the app and it would go straight to the Flames now it opens to the NHL. I hate the schedule layout and general look of the app. Horrible work by the NHL tech/design team

It must be deeper than their app because the same misinformation was being relayed to Sirius XM Friday night.
