Flames better appeal that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the league instructed them to do so and they’d reduce it to three games so Rasmus gets in the Heritage game.

That's ok. I watched the play live and on video. Laine is low but not near that low.

I suppose on the plus side, they have a home stand coming outside of the Heritage Classic. They can protect that likely Gilbert-Oesterle pairing. Or even consider giving Poirier a look.

And the Detroit game tomorrow.

Dirty hit, yes.
Deserving of a suspension, absolutely.
4 game suspension consistent with other comparable hits, no, not really. Pretty clear he got the small-market penalty.

Beginning of the year, hit on a star player (sort of). Head contact. I guess they are trying to go hard early.

lol I completely overlooked that one.
New addition to the plus side - Oesterle played in Detroit last year and is from the area. He'll be pumped and ready to have a good game.

It will be interesting to see how the DOPS handles similar situations this season. I thought perhaps 2 games. 4 is excessive to me. Whatever. The NHL will do what they want to whoever they want.

If you think a 4-game suspension for what Andersson did to Laine is bad, just wait until the league finds out that Travis Dermott used pride tape!

You'd have to think Poirier will be first in line for a call-up, but he may have been injured last night... so we'll see.

I don’t think they have the cap space to call anyone up without sending someone else down.

Flames can put Rooney on LTI to recall someone

I'd be surprised if they didn't call up anyone. If it was one game, sure. Four? They'll bring up an extra.

I thought it was really bad when I saw it live, maybe because of the time in the game you knew he was taking a run at him and not really making a hockey play. But didn’t think it would be this long a suspension.
I like Rasmus a lot so this is disappointing but I don’t mind getting cheap shots out of the game. Have at least some respect for the well being of your opponent.
