What a goof, no idea what you are talking about. My comment about figure skating had nothing to do with misogyny and everything to do with being able to skate around and do twirls untouched. You are a moron.
You're a very reasonable person, I should apologize.
An elbow to the face has been a cheap shot in every era of hockey.
How is that contact to be avoided when Laine bails on the hit and falls backwards lowering his head while Ras has full forward momentum. People who have played any level of contact hockey know the answer is that you can’t.

Jumping before a hit is dirty, you don't need to gatekeep playing to know that.

I would agree but he did not jump prior to the hit. Pretty clear if you watched the video. Also pretty normal to move you upper body forward for momentum, that’s different than jumping.

By keeping your arm at your side and not in the air leading the hit.
Holy crap, do we have the full figure skating club posting about the hit here. My lord it’s a clean hit, there is contact in hockey. These types of hits happen in most games. It was highlighted because of the time remaining in the game and because Laine was trying to turtle by falling backwards.
Well I disagree that it was a clean hit and nothing to do with how Laine received the impact. Laine wasn’t trying to turtle (do you know what that means) but he did try to duck and avoid it.
Anyway if you really want a return to old time hockey where justice was meted on the ice, that hit results in a brawl. Yay?
I think it's okay to agree that it's a cheap shot while also enjoying the entertainment of a contact sport. Part of that is that people are going to get emotional and take cheap shots.

If Laine stands and absorbs that hit there is no head contact or no upper body injury. The fact he bailed and got backward momentum and then took the hit made the impact significantly worse. Take the hit, it’s simple.

Sometimes players on your team do it too!
100% agree with you. I just don’t really see it as a cheap shot but we can agree to disagree, all just fans.

Laine was already bent over because he was taking a shot. If you watch the replay the only real movement he has a chance to make before taking the hit was tilting his head away from the incoming forearm. Would have been a bad move for Laine to lean into a hit that was already targeting his head.
From 4-5 seconds in the video its pretty clear Laine didn't make a dramatic repositioning of his body.
No problem with Andersson throwing a hit there. It’s the NHL, not rec hockey. That said, point of contact is clearly the head. I think 2 games is fair.

Exactly right on all points. Guy is firing the puck looking for a EN goal with 2 seconds left, so if he's going to keep playing, why shouldn't Rasmus?
And did he purposely aim and intend for his head? Nope.
