Laine sounds like not really enjoying in Columbus. Can we trade Huberdeau for Laine? Even I take Guli back for salary balance.

Paused the video at point of contact:

Left skate is 100% on the ice. Right skate has its toe on the ice.

Arm is still tucked.

It’s not late after the puck leaves.

It’s 100% unnecessary at that point of the game, and that alone may be worth a game of suspension.

If that hit happens at any point other than the last 30 seconds, it’s clean.

You can't see the left skate in your screen capture, nor can you see the toe of the right skate on the ice.

Arm tucked has nothing to do with charging.

The time of the puck leaving Laine has nothing to do with charging. Nobody is arguing interference.

The overhead from behind the Columbus goal shows no snow from Ras' left skate. It was off the ice.

It's charging. Ras left his feet to deliver a check.

I don't know what you are arguing.

I can't believe how many people are fine with giving Laine a free shot at an empty net from his own blueline in the dying seconds of an already-decided game--Ras was absolutely correct in trying to blow him the eff up. Laine made the choice to play to the buzzer and Ras obliged.

I watched every frame in the video. Both skates are on the ice at the point of contact, 100% no question. The right skate has its heel off the ice, but the toe is still touching. That skate is close to coming off the ice, but is still clearly in the ice. The left skate isn’t even close to arguable in any form. It’s solidly on the ice at the point of collision.

DOPS will easily, and rightfully, claim that Andersson changed direction, took strides to target a vulnerable player, and launched himself into the hit.

Getting caught up on when the skates left the ice or not, meh whatever. Andersson launches himself into the hit.

Guy should be suspended.

Launching yourself into a hit is legal, and a taught practice.

I mean, I refuted every single point you made.

Your "proof" in the form of a grainy screen capture is not conclusive in any way. You posted said "proof" to support your thesis that the left skate was "clearly" on the ice, yet it is not visible in the alleged "proof".

I offered a counterpoint to your "proof" and you chose to ignore it.

I will ask you again, what exactly are you arguing?

You can do the same, watch every frame of that video. His skates don’t move up until after that frame, which is the point of contact (plus minus a frame).

Unless he is capable of flying, his skates are on the ice. Yes, that video is grainy, but the motion of his feet in the video preceding that frame is 100% conclusive that his feet are on the ice at the point of contact.

I’ve seen many posts in here (not just yours) claiming that he left his feet. Im posting clear enough evidence that he did not.

Other parts of the hit are more subjective, and may deem a suspension.

Yeah, Laine was trying to score. Andersson was within his right to throw the hit. We can go into the slow motion mechanics of the hit or whatever, but the Blue Jackets were playing until the buzzer.

The idea that the game was over holds no weight. If that was the case, Laine could have held back then too.

The physics of a hockey hit seem to melt minds consistently.

Not supposed to hit people with 2 seconds left? Since when?

Where’s the line where guys should stop hitting people? 5 seconds? 10 seconds? Or is it score based now?

Play to the whistle … play to the buzzer. Kids get taught that in u11.

I don’t understand how some people are arguing that given the timing of the hit, it should be a suspension. Whether there is 59 minutes or 1 second left in a game, what is or isn’t a penalty and consequently a suspension should be judged the same.

Play until the final whistle. If that same play happens against one of the Oilers wonder twins when they are out in the final minute trying to pad stats, I can almost guarantee the tune in here would be different.
