Re-watched the Ras hit. He really let the intrusive thoughts win in that moment. Just stupid. He’s definitely getting something for that

There should be a 24hr rule here.
I thought they played a decent road game but lacked some finish and had some bad puck luck. But overall, I feel things are much better.

I seriously think that those posters are cheering for a Flames lost while watching the game so that they can jump in the PGT and spew their negative.

Doubt it...Laine is bent over otherwise it's a chest to chest
With this league though who knows

He'll be suspended. Laine is leaning over but it looks like there was some ill intent in the moment. Pretty egregious in the dying seconds, too.
It's what it is. Might be a chance to get Poirier or Solovyov an NHL look? Would rather not dress both Gilbert and Oesterle.

I really liked the shift from Huberdeau - Lindholm - Coronato after the Lindholm goal. Lindholm is showing he is our best player despite having no chemistry with Huberdeau. I also thought it was Kadri's best game so far. Dube - Kadri - Ruzicka had several good chances.
I didn't notice Mangiapane, Backlund, Coleman, Huberdeau or Coronato much this game. The D pairings make me upset. We constantly get bailed by Markstrom or by the post. Hopefully it's just a matter of getting used to the system. That said, I would be more than happy with a different D core next year. Maybe get a PP specialist for the 3rd pairing(Gustafsson/Barrie/Klingberg).
I liked the comeback attempt, and the momentum shift, but the play with the empty net left a sour taste in my mouth.

Ok then. 9 million it is lol.
Seriously, he's a very good player but the Flames can't afford to pay him like that long term. It'll be a 1st line of dinosaurs making 27 million while the Flames finish 6th in the pacific, because the Canucks and Oilers are 7/8.

It's kind of a silly argument to make without mentioning term. Would you not give him 1x$9M?

I think what's silly here is you even thinking Lindholm's camp would consider a 1yr deal. Regardless of amount.

I'd do what's best for the Flames, not pander to Lindholm's camp. I'm certainly not of the mind to be offering max term deals to 29-year-olds.

There's a bunch like that.
Show up when we lose and have it already set in their minds it was all Kadri or Huberdeau fault.
A little sutter tribe same posters GullFoss Burning Beard Austin Nhl.
Bizzare infatuation with the old coach.

Exactly. Don't pander to Lindholm's camp.
That's precisely what I'm saying.
He's not taking 1-3 yr deal IMO. Looking for $9M+. Trade piece for me if I'm Conroy.

Flames have good pieces that can help any team win. Problem is this league is geared towards having high end elite talent that can takeover games for you.
Can Huberdeau, Kadri or Lindholm be those types of difference makers? Too early to say but the dynamic offensive capabilities of this team is definitely an issue to be concerned about. It's not really something that can be fixed by coaching or changing the culture either. You either have it or you don't.

Thought they played a pretty good game and are slowly starting to build game after game. I like how they’re trending and the top guys are starting to generate more and more.

Okay. The AAV in isolation doesn't really tell you whether or not it's a bad deal. What's the harm in offering a 1x10.5 and seeing if they'll walk away?
The term is extremely important, as we have seen with the two max term deals we've given out to 29+ year olds already.

I think it was a dirty hit, especially given that the game was over at that point.
I also think Laine put himself in a bad spot... but I won't be surprised by a suspension.

Yeah, sorry if I seem argumentative, but I agree that giving out these huge term contracts to 29+ year olds is a horrible idea. Short term, I am fine to pay for age 29-32, but that's it.
These people like Jagr and Pavelski are exceptions. Look at Gretzky, even. 9 times he had 50 goals, then he hit age 30 and got 40 goals once ever again.

Yeah, in the normal flow of the game Laine needs to do a better job to protect himself, but I doubt he was expecting to get crushed with seconds left on the clock.
I thought Ras left his feet a bit too.

I think it deserves a suspension, and that we would all be upset if it happened to a Flames player. Hopefully Laine isn't injured/concussed. I get Andersson was frustrated by that game, but take out your frustrations by being hard to play against, or by making good plays. That hit had an intent to hurt a player in a game that was already over.

No. This "we need a game breaker" b.s. is old. We need several "game breakers" or at the very least, a team that can play together. Whatever is left of this core are good players, but not together. It's been stale for a few years, minus Johnny and Chucky. But c.p. it and delusion on.
