Default October 20, just one game.

It is an intra Metropolitan Division affair for the solo game on this Friday OOT.
It should be a decent game to switch to during commercial breaks of the Flames
game. The weird and strange scheduling that started last week will continue until
the baseball playoffs are finished. There will be plenty of games tomorrow.

The game is on channel 91 (Islanders feed) in your vehicle.

Another quirk with the Devils-Islanders game is that it was exactly a year ago they played each other. Same time and same arena.

How is baseball affecting the hockey schedule? Last night there were tons of hockey games with 2 baseball games. Tonight there are 2 hockey games with 2 baseball games.

The NHL announces their schedule way before MLB can possibly know when the wildcard/divisional series will be finished.

I'm guessing that U.S. teams in MLB markets don't want to schedule too many home games in October, just in case they have to compete against playoff baseball.

Someone or other on the radio was talking about this just the other day.

Brock Nelson gets the Islanders on the board. Hamilton ties it with a minute left in the first period. The Devils goalie, Schmid, gets an assist on that goal.

Seems odd, if true. Yesterday Tampa Bay, Florida, New York, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Minnesota, Anaheim, Seattle, and Colorado all hosted games.

Let the offense flow on Long Island, as it is 3-3 now after forty minutes.

Jack Hughes scoresvthe go ahead goal. 4-3 Devils. The big thing this game has going is the Devils have four power play goals! The Islanders have three even strength (5 on 5) goals.

Horvat scores the tying at even strength with just over a minute left in regulation time.

The crafty Jack Hughes wins it in overtime,
54 Devils.

They can't all play on the road in October, and the NHL always schedules a lot of games on Thursday, so they have to suck it up. But on a Friday during baseball playoffs, with the NBA playing and NFL in full swing? That's a night when U.S. teams hate to play at home.

They moved up the start time in Philly a couple days ago.

Jack Hughes with 4 points (2g, 2a) including the GWG. Toffoli scored for the Devils and Horvat had 2 goals, including the GTG for the Isles. It was Coach Ruff's 100th win behind the bench with the Devils. The Islanders PK was brutal.

Figured that when I saw the 3:00p start (Pacific). Which is sort of weird since baseball started at 5:00p anyway and the hockey would probably be letting out around 5:40.

Philadelphia is one of the few cities where that would matter since they put all their sports stadiums together. Detroit. In fact, I can't really think of any others. Anaheim is separated by the freeway at least. Pittsburgh by the river. St. Louis? Toronto? Denver?

I think that's the list and you are correct that Philly is a unique situation.

Jersey's old barn was next to the football stadium, but don't recall them adjusting start times. The Devils had exceptionally bad attendance there, so might not be the best comparison.
