Jarvis is off to a nice start this year but he did go down from 40 points to 39 last year despite playing 14 more games. I think there's still huge potential but I wonder if maybe CAR might be more willing to move him now than in the summer of 2022.

All of the thoughts around "they won't trade player X" is fine and good until the teams are looking at a potential upgrade for their roster.

Everyone's tradable for the right price.

Would it be a 1 for 1 swap in your opinion or a + from the Hurricanes?

No one asked me but IMO Kotkaniemi has a pretty decent contract, whereas Lindholm wants probably $8M+ to play outside Calgary (assuming he'd take less to play elsewhere).

I can't see the Canes adding a lot more.

I wouldn't have any problem with a 1/1 Jarvis/Lindholm swap. I could actually see both teams going for it.

I'd do Lindholm for Kotkaniemi and something. KK and Jackson Blake?

Would absolutely take Jarvis 1-for-1 IMO. He has all the makings of a player ready to take a big step and he has a great toolset of skills. Great hands, a quick release and tons of speed. He also looked like the Canes best forward for their series against Florida.

He was drafted as a center but has not been used as one on the Canes. The flames could choose to develop him as a center.

5'10"
175 lbs

Every time I watch him he looks like a winger. I think we need some size down the middle if we're going to have smaller wingers like Mang, Dube, Coronato

I'm still half convinced that Jarvis is 10+ years older than his birth certificate suggests so for that reason, I'm out.

No to Jarvis but count me in on Kotka. This is lindy redux. A second chance for us. Not sure Carolina lets him go as he's settled in well there and they have the finnish core thing going on.

I agree with Scorp, I think Kots is a good target, and I wouldn't be upset with a 1-for-1 swap- although I do think Carolina needs to add a smaller piece, ie draft pick or prospect.

Kots is big, quick, skilled, and hasn't fullfilled all of his potential yet.

If posters think they are going to get Seth Jarvis as a return for lindholm, then they are going to be very disappointed with eventual return if traded.

You have to give up something good to get something good. Lindy is going to have solid return value and while he looks like a nice player, it's not like Jarvis is a can't miss, elite prospect. That said I would rather him over Kotkaniemi.

This is posted every single time one of our players is rumoured to be on the move, it is almost always wrong.

Oh yeah? Like when?

Tkachuk for Huberdeau and Weegar is the only example I can think of. All other trades i can think of have wound up with us getting much less than the board in general was hopeful for.

KK wouldn’t be a bad grab. I think he’d be a solid player with more opportunity. I do like the contract he has with the cap going up. Don’t think he’s a first line C but I also didn’t think Lindholm was gonna be able to when he first got here and he did.

Did anyone think we were getting 2 recent 5th overall picks for Dougie? I know Ferland and Fox were part of the deal as well but I was pretty shocked by that return to get a 23 and 21 year old top 5 pick who had played since they were 18 and put up respectable numbers.

I was also surprised how cheap Hamilton was to acquire in the first place.

Outside of the Flames the Flyers getting Tippett+ for Giroux is a similar type situation as Jarvis

I don't know if you had discussions with Cane fans, but they were telling me how they don't want to trade KK for a rental, and that KK was better defensively. I personally was very surprised by that take.

Yeah, the hamilton trades are good examples of this, absolutely.

Disagree with Tippett for Giroux though; tippett was an underperformer. Jarvis had almost double the points in his rookie season with the hurricanes than Tippett had over his entire 3 seasons with Florida pre trade. Way different trajectory and player.

BUT, I don't think Jarvis is out of the question for a player like Lindy, so it's immaterial. Personally I think Kotka is the better piece and what I would be looking for on our team, whereas Jarvis is similar to players we have (Dube, Mangiapane, Coronato)

Here are my thoughts on Tippett. He didn’t have the numbers but was a 22 year old former top 10 pick. Giroux was a 33 year old pending UFA where the Panthers were already acquiring as a pure rental. Tippett goes on to score 27 goals in his first full year in Philly.

Lindholm is 5 years younger than Giroux was when he was traded so I think that makes up some of the performance difference between Tippett and Jarvis.

I assume any team picking up Lindholm would intend on extending him unless it is a team lien Florida who is having a monster year and want to push their chips in. Ottawa is a team I could see being that type of team. Boucher++ for Lindy?
