Hope they keep building on what's been going right. Good chance to snag another two points.

Not going to Columbus for this one this time around. The one last year was brutal to watch in person. If they win tonight then me being there was the problem last time

I am happy Huderdeau is contributing offensively. It is really encouraging.

That said, damn do I hate the way he handles the puck in his own zone, blind back hand passes up in the middle of the ice.

Didn't we come out leading in shots last time and gave up a breakaway or 2-1 for them to take a commanding 1-0 lead?

Hopefully the boys continue to put pucks in the net to refute my prediction of not enough talent and scoring! So far so good.

Powerplay is still an issue and I am not sure how they are going to fix it. The annoying part is that our best shooters (one timers esp) are all righties - Lindholm, Coronato and Duehr. We need a leftie who can one time the puck for Huby to feed them, maybe Ruzicka but I have not seen enough attempts from him to know if he can or not.

I think Duehr will be on PP2 at some point, he has a really good one timer and he showed it a couple of times already. He should also be able able to gain the zone on the PP. With Duehr being a one time threat on the left it would open up space for Coronato shot on the right flank.

There are good pieces for both PPs but it feels like it is just missing something to be actually dangerous.

Hoping for Backlund to score tonight, or at least get on the score sheet.
He is the last forward held pointless.

Savard could put Huberdeau on the right wall too and then you could use the right handed one-timer on the left wall.

I really do believe that this team is missing a defensemen that can efficiently run a high end PP unit. I love Rasmus as a player, but he simply does not have the ability to process and execute plays at a high enough rate of speed. He also struggles to provide different shot angles and passing lanes due to a lack of explosiveness in his first few strides. Watching Dahlin play last night really illustrated that. Now, in saying that, we also don't have any other better options as we stand here today.

Jeremie Poirier has that dynamic ability and creativity that you'd want back there, but he's just not ready yet. Kylington also has some of those traits you'd want, but again, he's not currently an option.

I really think they need to try Weegar. Andersson just isn't a PP QB and does not provide the dynamic ability.

I think Weegar can walk the line and come down and draw some coverage to him.

They have been rotating guys in and out of that top unit and its not settled so I am not worried as Savard seems to also think its not clicking like it should.

I was reading that they have set plays off faceoffs and entries but the powerplay largely is a system but not set plays so they are kind of allowed to freewheel and do what they want.

I have really liked how we enter the zone different ways this year. They do seem to go with the come with speed make a pass to the boards and bump it back off the boards to the trailer a lot.

The only thing that makes sense to me at this point is that Weegar doesn't want to lol

I just really can't understand what they're trying to do with Andersson and his positioning on the powerplay. I was expecting changing to Savard that Muller's PP Andersson from last year would be scrapped but he's still never in a spot to be able to get a quick shot off, and he's at bad angles to make passes. He's no scoring threat so it just makes it nearly 4 on 4.

I'm gonna keep saying this, but I really like Huska. I think he has the perfect attitude to be an effective NHL coach. Of course I'm just basing this on interviews, but he has a quiet intensity and I think he is 100% prepared to take on his first year.

With a new coach I think the adage has always been 15-20 games to get all the kinks ironed out. The system he's running seems drastically different to Sutter's, so I think some leeway is fair and hopefully we stay in the race until then.
