That Rel xGF% of -15.72% (4th last / Kadri is dead at at -27.68% lol) isn't so sexy.
Has muuuuch to improve on. Especially his passing / turnover rate
Small sample sizes are weird for things like that right now - he has a 8.85% xGF in 7 minutes away from Lindholm - it was 3% coming into todays game) and that's driving his all up numbers down. So something happened on a shift or two where they were hemmed in and it's messed up the all up numbers.
I'm more focused on how Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mangiapane look as a line at this point and that is showing promise as a top line in what's a very very small sample at this point. It's only 30 minutes so has to taken with a grain of salt, but Trending similar to the line we all loved in 21-22.

I do think there is more resilience to the team so far this season. The weak goals aren’t killing their will to compete.
And although the zone defense seems a bit scrambly shaky still, it does seem to my eye test that most of the shots are coming from outside as intended. We’ve just had some marginal goaltending that has given up goals on those perimeter shots; they’d ordinarily be saved imo.

Ah .. the old saying: "Sometimes you paint a van Gogh and some days you paint the garage."
Today was the garage.
And the job was just fine...with everyone contributing, a few weak spots here and there, and a pretty decent early, and a tad rusty, outing for Darth.
Not an exciting game, though the result was great. Buffalo is gonna be trouble when they get it together. And they're mostly really really young.
Reading this board all summer I could have been convinced that Buffalo would never lose all season. So I guess we should be ecstatic that the Flames were in the game let alone won.

Yep that shrewd 12 year rebuild we should follow only needs a couple more years!
My friends who aren't Flames fans and don't watch every Flames game have commented on the parts they've seen this year that they think the Flames are playing well.
It's harder for me to see, but I'm wondering if I'm just conditioned to watching them play Sutter's style and this feels "off" in comparison.
I'm waiting 20 games before I comment on what I think is good or bad.
Also Ruzicka is at a PPG pace. Scoring is not as big of an issue as I thought, so far. A lot of bright spots at forward: Ruzicka, Sharangovich, Coronato, Duehr, Greer.
Coleman scored a great goal. The first line still continues to generate chances. The PK is still very resilient, and the PP got us goals in 3/4 games, despite looking mediocre. There are a lot of positives so far. I still question using Tanev on the 3rd pairing and Z in the top 4, but that's me.

I think at times they still not rid themselves of Sutter system, like just at it on net instead of try to make play. Many times they just shoot the puck on net.
