I haven't seen today's yet but how are we feeling about Lower Decks this season? I think the moopsie thing is an all timer but the last few have left me kinda meh. To the point I didn't watch last weeks until last night.

I disliked how they did Rom wrong (IMO), but otherwise I have enjoyed the season. I think the weakness is actually the loose tie together plot- we're in episode 8 and have very little information on what is actually going on there? So I assume that's going to take over and become the main focus for the last two episodes.
I think that if they were going to do a season long arc they should tie it in more. Or if they were going to go more episodic, self contained, then totally reject the loose arc plot. The best way to blend arc and self contained is the DS9 way imo; 70% episodes are focused on plot arc, while the 30% not are spliced in at points and depict every day life/ social ongoings aboard the shift with the arc as a setting point almost (a backdrop...) Doing this 90% episode devoted to self contained with 10% of each episode dedicated to the arc plot is... strange and disjointed. Makes some of the interceding stories seem hollow while also not fleshing out the arc's purpose or danger.
But! All that critique aside, I think it's actually been a good season. I have laughed a lot. I don't know if they're hitting the nostalgia button too hard for some, but for me it's just right lol. I mean, look at our many pages of tamarian...

I dont know man...I think, (unfortunately?) that our bar for Lower Decks is absurdly high.
For instance:
- Tuvix - I thought this episode was going to suck out loud and as soon as I saw the title card I literally groaned as, like I've said previously, if there is an element of Star Trek that I'd love if we could just pretend doesnt exist its Tuvix.
But that episode was a gem. It actually made me nostalgic for Voyager which is a feat in and of itself but the overall satire was on point!
- Moopsie - Enough said. Absolutely classic episode.
- Orion Episode - I wont go through all of it, but the 'knife to the shoulder' gag had me going.
- Betazoids - Easily my least favourite and I think weakest episode.
- Ferengi episode - I loves some DS9 references and I liked that while they made Rom look a little silly they undid by making him honest but shrewd as it was all an act for other people's benefit. Except for his love of baseball but I cant explain why anyone loves baseball.
I guess what I'm saying is that its still a solid season, with a few hiccups, yes, we still have no idea who is in the little ship from the cold-opens and they're running out of time to explain it....I think its Evil Boimler and Section 31 but I dont know why, but overall I just think our expectations of Lower Decks are so high that even a really good episode doesnt register.
The other thing for me as well is that it really felt like Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks just flowed into each other and they've both been some of the best Trek since DS9 which makes me pretty happy.
And I'm never happy.
And now....this:
"Locke, when the Lower Decks were released!"

If you compare it to the Simpsons, I guess you could surmise that not every episode will be The Monorail. A lot of it is going to be lower than the bar. I say this as someone who only gets the idea that lower decks is great from everybody talking about it here but I have never personally watched it lol. I don't know, I just don't have much interest in cartoon/comedy Trek.

Even with the worst Lower Decks episodes I'm still entertained and enjoy watching it. I'm never thinking "WTF is this ####!?" like with Picard or Discovery

The first two seasons of Picard are absolutely baffling. Like...seriously WTF was that ####?
I had no idea where they were going or trying to do. The third season of Picard was...what seemingly Picard was supposed to be...fan service and that was fine.
It was exactly what it promised to be. The first two seasons...I dont know WTF they were going for, those seasons introduced characters that sucked and nobody cared about, made Picard a robot and god only knows what else...just a complete waste of time, which I normally wouldnt care about too much except these actors are ANCIENT, they dont have much time left to waste!
Does anyone care about the first two seasons of Picard? That was some loathsome ####.
Just bad. And they should feel bad about being so bad. Just...sad bad. Awful. Worst Trek since OG Tuvix.
Discovery? Maybe one day I'll work my way through it, but at the moment its absolutely intolerable. I wouldnt even call it 'Star Trek.' Intolerable stuff. This is supposedly their last season and I wouldnt even care if they didnt even release it. Take the Tax Write-Off.
Retcon it so that Discovery eliminates the first two season of Picard and Q snaps his fingers and none of that nonsense ever happened.
"Q...his fingers poised at the concept of Discovery..."

Overall Picard just sucked. First two seasons were 1/10. Third season was barely a 4/10, mostly because of the fan service. Plot was still totally nonsensical.

Sure, but I'll take it because it was fun!
But yeah...first two seasons were unapologetically hot awful. 1/10 is generous.
I've seen burning garbage more creative than the first two seasons of Picard.
