to be fair Lindholm was coming off and then changed his mind and played the puck...also, I get his point
there is some irony that Huberdeau and Kadri are here because Tkachuk bailed partially because of how ridiculous the fans are...he recently said the fans and media attention in Canada are just too much (paraphrasing)
Yet many/most cheer for Tkachuk now and hate the guys that chose to sign and play here.
He fooking left the band!
Kadri has to pick it up but trashing players is not helpful...especially three games in. There is a reason Flames players leave to places where hockey isn't #1 and tear it up.

Pressure. Imagine being an athlete and having to deal with pressure. I find it quite disappointing that players don't want to grab the bull by the horns and take control of the situation.

These guys get paid 10s of millions of dollars before they're 40.
Huberdeau and tkachuk will have over 100 million by the time they're 40.
I'm sure they'll be just fine if fans of the club bitch about their poor performance on a forum.

Calgary is no where near as bad as other Canadian cities for media coverage. The journalists here are pretty tame. The Flames grossly underachieved in the playoffs or flat out missed the playoffs in his time here. He was a no show in pretty much every series for the Flames, they deserved to be criticized. Good for him for figuring it out in Flrorida tho. I don’t hold any resentment towards him for the way he left. Johnny on the other hand can eat rocks

Tkachuk will be because he left lol, that is the point
pressure is obviously a huge factor, go look at the cup champs for the last 30 years
having lots of money doesn't help a person handle pressure better or make a job easier to excel at

That was on Lindholm. He was coming off, slowed up and played the puck. But Lindholm is not the current whipping boy so he gets a pass I suppose.

So if we just stick to saying nice and supportive things in our forum the team will win, because these guys that get paid 10s millions to play a sport infront of thousands of people can't handle the pressure?
Colorado, Chicago, Boston, New Jersey and Detroit are all high pressure markets.

hockey isn't #1 in any of those places...its like 3+
Again money is irrelevant
be critical of players play if you like, some stuff is over the top...like the people calling into overtime after last game and absolutely roasting Huberdeau who has been one of the best forwards
Like it or don't, players are leaving because of it...at least partially. Fans are just too much.
Huberdeau and Kadri who CHOSE to sign here are more hated that Gaudreau and Tkachuk who bailed and put the team in the position in the first place

They're leaving because the sport they make millions of dollars off of is the most popular sport in the city?
Shouldn't these ultra competive, best at what they do athletes thrive and desire that?
I dont buy it. And if that's the case good riddance!
Huberdeau and kadri signed here because they're mercenaries and we offered them more money then anyone else, money they couldn't turn down. They havnt earned #### in this market and a large chunk of fans won't like them until they prove they're worth it.
This means scoring those clutch goals, make those big plays, getting us to playoffs and winning some rounds.

Tkachuk said Canadian fans and media are too much so...buy whatever you want. ROR said that is why he left Toronto, there are many examples. Not the only reason but a factor.
Huberdeau got paid the same money Gaudreau and Tkachuk turned down, Kadri could have gone to the Islanders.
just saying, if you think over the top hating on them is going to make them play better go for it...seems in sports it often does the opposite
Huberdeau and Kadri are here because Gaudreau and Tkachuk who the Flames drafted and developed bailed

Tkachuk didn’t leave over people calling into a radio show that he has never heard of.
Maybe some NHLers want to live in anonymity but this idea that Calgary is some pressure cooker environment is ridiculous.

I don’t think anyone hates Kadri. If Tre gave me $7 million to play for the Flames you would all be upset at how bad of a hockey player I am but I’d still sign it. And be embarrassed to ever use my CP account again.
Those “low pressure” teams like Arizona and Florida have never won.

I said partially, he has literally said it
"I appreciate the fact that it's tough. Playing in Canada is very different with the spotlight and the history. What I've noticed in the difference between playing in Canada and Florida is the highs and the lows.
So I think for them, maybe, and they're unbelievable talents, but unless they win the Stanley Cup, they're basically getting crucified and it's not their fault; it's kind of just the way it is. I know that they're mentally tough enough, and I know them well, and they've been able to handle it and have kept getting better and better in their careers in each year. But I know, seeing it from afar, nothing against playing in Canada, but I know I wouldn't want to deal with it on any given day."

Tampa, Carolina, Anaheim,
and like I said the "big" US markets its still behind basketball, baseball, and football, borderline MLS
California and Florida and their 4 teams have 6 cups in the last 20 years
Canada and their 6-7 teams have 0 in 30
Anyway I've said my bit, Kadri has to get going...I think Huberdeau is headed in the right direction
critique play...calling players trash, quitters, ect. IMO doesn't make things easier for them, not that I think my CP post will change anything just getting it off my chest
Two guys quit on this team and it wasn't Kadri or Huberdeau, I feel like SOME of the criticism is people taking out their anger for something that wasn't at all their fault

5 teams but sure, those teams you brought up are fair.
Los Angeles is not a low pressure place, they are the top revenue expansion team for a reason. Tampa Bay is the most popular team in their town. Hurricanes are the only team in town. No argument for Anaheim.
Montreal is probably the most pressure packed and have won the most.

lol come on now...
These places all have teams in the actual major sports that have much larger fan bases...some teams are region or state teams. Not to mention college or even high school football. I was in Tampa in 04...two blocks away from the arena you wouldn't even know a game was going on. Meanwhile Red Deer was pack with Flames flags on every vehicle.
And Montreal...Cups in before TV, internet, social media are a little different. They have what two since the 70s and it was 30+ years ago. Times are a little different as are the players.
hockey is niche in the US, MLS will pass it

I’m not disagreeing with you, friend. I think it can be fair to critique our players though. Detroit and Chicago have won a bunch of Cups and are top 2 teams in their cities. Cubs for sure, Tigers maybe. There is a lot of pressure on their hockey teams too.

NFL/NBA is obviously bigger...I mean, wat? Bears, Bulls?
pre-season Bears gets bigger ratings than the Hawks in the Finals...like a lot bigger
MLS is actually bigger than the NHL now too
Listen/watch a US radio/tvs ports show. You might get some hockey at the end
Anyway we are getting off topic
My only point is I think over the top trashing of players has a negative effect
The guys on the fan were joking about it...Pat said a couple good things about Huberdeau and was absolutely lit up on the text line, emails, phone calls ect. They warned others not to suggest he was doing decent or face the wrath of Flames fans.
lol get a life, guy is PPG and has the most scoring chances on the team thus far with some of the fewest against. I'll get lit up for even daring to post about it.
anyway, goodnight all...hopefully a good weekend for the Flames
