Hopefully this is a learning opportunity for the club to not give out big contracts to players at or above the age of 30. Don’t make a similar mistake with Lindholm as he will be 29 in a couple of months.

I absolutely would not. That's just more leveraging of the future for the present.

I'd sell everything that isn't bolted down, and let the team crumble around Huberdeau and Kadri. Hopefully Huberdeau could see a resurgence playing with the next Matthews/Bedard/McDavid/Mackinnon/Dahlin/Hedman.

It's already absolutely insane that the Flames 2024 or 2025 is at risk of being lost.

1st round draft picks are the bloodline of this organization and need to be treated as the prized asset above all else because they are the only way this team will ever actually become more than what it is/has been. Short sightedness and impatience is what has built this team into the mess that it is.

You sir are correct however if you sink the ship, they'll sink the culture.

Those contracts are guaranteed. Filled with NMC. Your already losing.

Bill Guerin knows.

Unless you're winning at least one Cup, not in a million years.

There's no guarantees what you're getting back is going to help. In fact, you may be worse much off....with no first rounders. And they've played 3 games of their second seasons. It's not the time to freak out and sell off your future. Let's see how this season plays out first. If they are indeed as terrible as some people think here then you hold onto them and use those first rounders and rebuild. Not trade them away.

Well it's an image, so I'm going to leave it up to your interpretation.

No one is trading these guys right now.

If the team falls apart, use their inflated salaries to reach the cap floor while accumulating high draft picks. Don't compound your mistake.

I hate to break it to (us), the culture that this team has is not a winning culture. In time, I wouldn't be surprised to see us be able to move Kadri.

Then we're left with Huberdeau, and so be it.

The Flames are stuck with Huby and Kadri. Might as well get used to it. I agree with ComixZone. Hopefully they’ll find some late career resurgence with some of the prospects later on

If you have a bad team, you should be trading for players with negative value where possible so you can accelerate the process of accumulating draft picks. Not sending away the very draft picks you should be coveting to have someone else deal with the problem.

But on a 6+ year term, I'm not sure that anyone would even be interested.

I really hope the players don’t read CP, we are the worst fanbase and don’t deserve to win. Kadri’s contract isn’t no where near one of the worst in the league, just go ahead and google worst contracts in the NHL and read all the different lists from this off-season provided by all the different sports outlets, Kadri’s name isn’t on any of them. $7M/season is not crazy money in today’s NHL and besides he actually skated hard last game, give him some time and stop being haters.

Huberdeau’s is harder to justify for sure and yes you will find his name on basically every list for worst contracts but it’s still early and he’s in good spirits right now, it’s coming. He’ll never be a McDavid but with Hubie it’s between the ears right now and as soon as he can just relax a bit he’ll start hitting those passes more and hopefully that’ll get his shot going too.

Everyone needs to chill, stop being haters, we’re 500 through 3 games with only one of those played at home.

He skated hard when he jumped on the ice in overtime to cause a too many men penalty!
