Everyone would love to see Wolf do well but he has shown nothing yet at the NHL level. You have a good read on his mental makeup though. Despite facing pretty much no NHL calibre adversity
That just comes across as your wishes, my friend.

Rattling in noggins?
I offered a take based on observations of each respective player. That's what we do here... give takes.
Vladar looked more confident when assigned the backup role as opposed to in the opportunities he had to take the reins from markstrom. And I was rooting hard for Vladdy cause I was sick of markstrom last year. But he definitely stumbled in those opportunities, and maybe that's because he's not ready for the pressure of becoming a #1. Looks like confidence to me.
So you're welcome to give your alternative view on it, and I won't accuse you of creating wishful narratives and playing psychologist for offering an assessment.
Also we're allowed to assess things wishfully if we want to. It's not against the rules on a fan board.

Even if he did no it wouldn't. He holds all the cards when it comes to whether or not he leaves.
Not that they even could right now anyway but Vladar re-signing again would mean Wolf isn't getting promoted anytime soon.

Has to be Tampa coming back around, right?
Worst Goals against in the league through their first 3 games. They don't have many years left with this core before it really starts to age out, so they can't really afford to struggle with goaltending for the next 1.5-2 months.

Probably not wrong, but that player is not likely to make the team until 2028?
Vladar is worth more to the team now IMO

I'd trade Markstrom before Vladar. Can we trade Markstrom with 50% salary retained?

Here’s my view. Nazem Kadri fell down a lot, went offside a bunch and turned over pucks and didn’t backcheck when he lost them and was -19. Mikael Backlund played a reliable game and was +24
Markstrom and Vladar were both mentally weak. They just turned in to different goalies, came unglued when Kadri was on the ice.
Wolf wouldn’t care because he has the mental makeup to compensate for any situation in front of him
|
Why the sour grapes? Are you Vladar's cousin or something?
Relax mate.
What a toxic place for fans who supposedly like the same team. Can't express confidence in the most highly touted prospect in your organization perhaps ever without some miserable poster going out of their way to mock it.

Markstrom has a full no movement clause there is no trade to make, that's why he signed with the Flames. Marky wanted to sign with a club in full control, not to be traded.

We will eventually lose Wolf, same situation as Philips, but Wolf way better. Yikes!

Plus a 6 mill cap hit with term left would be next to impossible to move to a good team.
Also Wolf is too unproven due to the team burying him.

Why? Vladar has zero track record of being able to handle more than the occasional start and his numbers at that rate are even very mediocre. If you intend on playing Wolf at all, it needs to be in tandem with an actual starting goalie.
If the Flames were going to get a second rounder for Vladar it would have happened by imo. This has likely been the ask and is the reason they can't move the guy.

Reopening trade talks re: Vladar could have more to do with Kylington being ready to come back than having Wolf in the system.
Trading Vladar and putting Rooney on LTIR (and waivers/demotion when he's healed) is one way to make cap space for Kylington.
Kylington is still a mystery so I have no idea, just a thought.

Make the move. I'd rather not lose Wolf over waiver status, even if he says that he's OK with the plan going forward. It just makes sense for Wolf to get NHL games. Devon Levi is doing pretty alright in Buffalo around the same size as Wolf.

Kylington is not coming back, that is my gut feeling. Until we see otherwise we should treat it as such. He is not a part of this team currently and we all have to move on, especially the Flames.

This is ridiculous.
There is no resemblance between Wolf's and Philips's situations beyond the fact that both were drafted and developed by the Calgary Flames. Wolf is essentially guaranteed a spot on the roster next season, at the very latest, and the Flames continue to control his RFA rights.
