Never. Again.
They sent me magazines for almost 5 years.
I wasnt paying them, I even repeatedly asked them to stop. I did not want them anymore! But nope.
And Sports Illustrated...my God...as someone who couldnt care less about Football, Basketball, NASCAR or Baseball that magazine SUCKS.
Even though I just bought them for clients who had to wait a bit.
I'd way rather have had National Geographic. At least some of that is educational and interesting.
Yeah, thats right...I'd much rather read about some ancient lost tribe in the Amazon than whoever turned left longest and fastest.

The 2 on and off subscriptions I've had over the course of my life are Natty G and SI, got tons of nostalgia for both so I won't take part in your SI bashing sir! But yeah Natty G > SI for sure.
Yeah they pile up, when I was living out of province and came back to visit, my family had a stack of over a year's worth of unopened SI's for me. That's when I knew to stop asking for that renewal for Christmas...like what do you even do with a fat stack of Sports Illustrateds all at once?

decorations: The Dollar Tree. nothing over $1.50
Then Dollarama
Candy: Wal-Mart had some of their 100 packs of mini chocolate bars for about $13, which is a really good price.

I’d actually argue that it’s best to get chocolate bars at Dollarama too. Just grab like $30 worth of full-sized bars and you’re good to go.

By supplies, do you mean candy/decorations for trick or treaters, or where to buy costumes? If it's the latter, Party City on Macleod Trail had lots when I was there a couple weeks ago. Think there's another one in the NE. I wasnt looking for decorations, but I'm sure there's lots there.
If it's the former, most stores would have lots of stuff I'm sure. Dollarama had a bunch of cool, cheaper stuff. I bought a fake crow decoration there last Halloween for my balcony to keep pigeons away, looks so life-like that I've seen birds try to fight it before, and even one that somehow befriended it - I "fired" the crow from his balcony post shortly afterwards.

Maybe if you're in one of those crusty retiree communities. We had over 200 kids last year.

I had a subscription to Fangoria and hockey news. Hockey news before the internet was the only way to track prospects months later. Jesper Mattson, you sucked. Definitely no Chris O'Sulllivan.

We had a total of 0 last year, so this is basically a “just in case” supply. The good thing is we get chocolate bars we like instead of a variety box that has at least one undesirable item, like Smarties.

My first thought when I see "artist" and "Gord" was Gordon Lightfoot, not Downie.
That being said, he is one of the best ever artists from Canada.
Confession. I didn't watch any of the Hips last tour.
I was more of a hip fan from 1987 to about 2000, so the bedazzled, top hat wearing Gord just seemed off to my memories.
Wasn't my Gord Downie.

A neat band for sure and one of Canada's best, but people gush more than is warranted without a doubt. Fully Completely and Day for Night are siiick and 38 Years is such a great song.
I'd say one third of their songs are outstanding and the rest are generic CanCon filler. They have a back-up singer with a god-awful voice and a totally unwatchable lead man that makes you cringe.
They may be our best band, though, really. Especially because most people like them across all genres. Country guys, rock guys, alternative guys, young and old...you can put on some of their bangers and all people will enjoy. That's gotta be pretty tough to pull off.
Is Celion Dion bigger? Michael Bublé? Justin Beiber? I mean, there are "bigger" acts out there, but none of those people really resonate outside of their genre. Hip do transcend all genres, so there's that.
The reverence for them is a bit much, though, IMO.
