I am not sure where Tij is slated to be picked but if the Flames make the playoffs the Habs will have an opportunity to take their 2024 1st. It would be painful to see the team lose in the first round then lose Tij Iginla in order to dump Monahan who will end up with more points than Kadri this year. Seems like a worst case type scenario for us all

I'm sure it will be an on-going conversation within the flames organization. especially now with Jarome on board.

What happened to Mantha? I used to like him when he was a Redwing. But he was healthy scratched last night against the Flames. Might be worth a bad contract type trade for change of scenery?

Detroit had a handful of guys that showed promise but all kinda fizzled.

Ya, super dissapointing developments for him, i thouhgt was a stud. Put him on the Flames second line and he makes a difference!

Timo Meier was sat last night in the third period of the NJD / Panther game. Just started an eight year - $70.4 million contract. Not a great start to his contract. Naturally, Huberdeau straight up for Meier is now firmly in my brain.

I'd just keep Huberdeau at this point. At least he cares.

NYR would be my target and it would be Lindy 1/2 retained and Vladar 1/2 retained to try and maximize return. NYR is clearly in their window and they have their own 2024 1st.
Lindholm 50% retained
Vladar 50% retained
For
1 of Laf or Kakko
24 1st
Othmann
Goodrow (cap dump)

No way the Rangers do that IMO. Vladar is probably worth a 3rd and Lindholm isn't returning the rest of that himself.
I still think Columbus will overpay for Lindholm the most if he's willing to sign there.

If we can get Kent Johnson... I should delude myself but it's such a wonderful thought.

Some guys lose the fire once they sign a fat contract.

This team should be all about a 3 year retool to try and ice the best team for the new barn. Lindholm and Hanifin are both looking very solid this year so hopefully they can get us a solid return.

Yep, time to restock the cupboard around an already decent base. It doesn't need to bottom out to SJ/Chicago levels, but this team should accept its fate with its pending UFAs and make the best out of the situation. The turnaround can be a lot quicker than the alternative.

I'm pretty sure we can't judge him on 3 games, we're still giving Huberdeau a break because of new systems , new team mates, and hurt feelings from being traded. Maybe Meier is having trouble with the new system
Pretty sure Meier took two stupid penalties in the first couple periods and the coach was sending a message, weird we jumped to lack of compete and he already is a bust. was .66PPG with devils last year, he brings a lot more to the table than offence, I think he'll be fine.

Just realized that Aho is out with an injury right now so Teuvo has moved to center the top line, with Kotkaniemi as 2C. If they want to compete for a cup, they really seem to need another top 6 center...

Huberdeau is playing pretty well through three games, that is why he is "getting a break" from people not using confirmation bias
leading the team in scoring chances, HD chances, PPG lol
If Meier was doing that he wouldn't be riding the pine

Carolina could actually use Lindholm, and he fits well into the age structure of the team, even with a new contract. They can also take him on without sending back a cap dump, if salary is retained.
It would give them long term, Aho/Lindholm/Kote/Staal, and that is Cup worthy.
I would ask for the 1st, Morrow and Perron, but that's just me.

I would start by asking for Jarvis or Kotkaniemi for Lindholm and then move on to a different package from there if necessary

I would be shocked if they gave up Jarvis.
I heard 2 rumors regarding the Canes when it came to Tkachuk. One was the Flames wanted Jarvis but they wouldn’t budge and the other that they would include Jarvis but would only give up the corpse of Gardiner and not one of their top 4 D which the Flames wanted and the Panthers offered with Weegar.
I am with you though if they could get Jarvis for Lindholm they should jump on it
