Which of course leads to mistakes and a lack of creativity.
That guy choose not to be here and he has 2 points in 3 games.
That guy had just as many detractors as Huberdeau did too during his 19-20 and 20-21 campaigns that weren't that great either.

I agree with everything you've said here, but whether the issue is with Huberdeau's confidence, the system, whatever - the Flames need to do whatever it takes to get him rolling. Nothing else matters if they can't do that.

Weegar is a fine player, no doubt. That said, Stajan also had a more important goal than any Flames player in the last 30 years, and that trade was still dreadful. Moving the needle from "complete and utter disaster" to "still bad" is not exactly a high bar. Maybe for Calgary it is.

If there was an expansion draft today, would it matter if the Flames protected no one? Why does every player feel so replaceable?

But didn't he set the LW record spending most of his time with Bennett and Duclair?
Oh darn, looks like we traded our catalyst in Bennett

I'd protect Coronato, Weegar, and Andersson. The rest can get lost.

What happened to the PP?
It started off so well. Lots of movement and high danger plays. Looked like the Savard effect was in full effect.

Yeesh...that's overly negative.
I think this is actually a really good team. The play a strong game overall. They just need 2 or 3 pure goal scorers to become the team they should be.
Dem's the breaks.

Yeah he had his career year with Bennett, it's not about Barkov.
But there is something off though, maybe he lost his confidence. Too many wtf plays from him, that's not normal. The shooting thing or lack off is what it is.

To be fair, my expectations of the Flames' performance this season are very low. I am worried about Huberdeau's and Kadri's lack of production, like many of us here. But, honestly, I don't know why so gloomy here tonight. It was a good, entertaining hockey game overall. The team wanted to win and worked hard all night. Yes, a couple of of bad passes, yes, a couple of posts, but not a "wow, we suck" kind. Take a point and move on to the next one.

Yeah man, just add McDavid and Bedard to this team and we're right there in the conversation! Let's see if Conroy can pull it off.

Really? Is that honestly what you truly believe? Is this a rational and thoughtful position?
My one request this season is that everyone deals in some solid critical analysis and rationality about this team. I'm so tired of the hyperbole and rhetoric that isn't based in facts.
You want to have a critical view of the team? Cool, back it up with good facts and sound analysis.
You want to see through rose-colored glassed? No problem, but back it up with good facts and sound analysis.
I just want to get back to discussing real hockey with you all. Is that too much to ask?

Level of negativity on this forum is a bit much.
Team is 1-1-1 with 2 road games and a new coach and system.
Relax a little… there is lots to be determined.

Honestly, I think he one of those players that is at his best when he doesn't have to the main guy or focus. On Florida, he was like the 3rd or 4th most important player. Less pressure and better match-ups.
Having said that, Huberdeau has looked better in 2 of the 3 games so far this season than he did in probably half the games he played last season, in my opinion.

Yes. Last season was as big of a tire fire as there can be.
But the team did a lot right in the offseason ridding themselves of Sutter and BT and giving Conroy the shot, hiring Iggy, etc.
If we were all willing to give that a chance then we should have been prepared to give it more than 3 games (in which we are .500) to make a judgement

I still think Flames fans are right there with Sens fans for being the least toxic of all Canadian teams, but I'm not sure what else there is to talk about after a loss. I am going to critique, and if I don't feel like reading other posts like that, I usually just don't read the PGT.

The burden of proof rests with the assumption that this team is more than a 10th place "never really there, but never really out" team that they've been for the better part of an adult lifetime, I should think. "Facts" here tend to skew favourably toward "look at these advanced stats I cherry-picked to show why this time is different for sure!" Edmonton-esque.
