Expectations are being lowered.
People are giving him credit for effort and basic routine plays a highly skilled player should easily make.

Reminds me a lot of Monahan's last couple of season where people would gush over him anytime he back checked or connected a pass, but were greatly exaggerating how well he was playing.
Of course we know Monahan's drop off was due to major injuries, so he had a very valid excuse.

Huby is fine, one of our better players this year.

He went through waivers the whole league didn't give him a chance.

The Flames drafted him, signed him to a contract, played him in the AHL and called him up. They gave him more of a chance than anyone outside of maybe Washington now.

When does the BS narrative of him not getting a shot end? He is 25 years old the whole NHL watched him in the AHL and said "meh no thanks" but sure he should hold a grudge against the Flames.

He deserved a 1 x league min one-way at least after the treatment last season. It's the least Conroy and the organization could do. Not like we were crawling with offensive dynamos to fill those open spots either.

At worst he could be a 13th forward that could inject some skill and make opportunitic plays.

Hubredeau looks better than last year but I don't see anything that would say he looks good or close to the player we hoped for when we signed him.

Some positive signs but not sure there is enough there to not still be skeptical going forward.

I'm already accepting that he is not $10.5M player. For me he is like some kind of magic bouncy board which you can use "give and go" type rush play. Pass the puck to him and go to the place you can shoot.
Otherwise Huberdeau doesn't create scoring chance himself, doesn't win any puck battle and doesn't carry the flow.

Jankowski also scored against the Flames, I guess we really missed out on that one.

I wish Phillips all the best, I'm glad he scored. The assist wasn't really a play he made.

I would still rather have our 4 RWs over Phillips. Which one of Mangiapane, Dube, Coronato, and Duehr does he replace in the Flames lineup?

His linemates still aren't quite clicking with him either.

He's made some great plays and the recipients are still a second slow responding to what he's doing/thinking.

Chemistry with someone would help Huby shine even more than he has to start.

Does that make Huberdeau our Jokinen 2.0?

The issue isn't with Kadri and Huberdeau. Both are generating chances.

The issue is in the defensive zone. The team looks lost when the other team sets up. And they are giving zero outlets on the breakout. Thats been consistent outside of one period. That's on coaching. Goaltending bailed them out in game 1.

Huberdeau is more like a Tanguay without an Iggy.

It's OK, huby & 'nato will happen in due time.

They were 13th in the East last year and missed the play-offs by 12 points finishing behind such greats as Detroit and Ottawa. This year they have played one game where they were dominated by Pittsburgh another non-playoff team from last year.

I guess yes it is my opinion but not sure there is much to go off to suggest otherwise based on their performance last year, age of the team, performance so far this season.

I never commented on the quality of the Caps impacting Phillips goal either way.

Can’t see the game. How were the goals on Marky? His fault or something else?

The first three games have not been boring. Frustrating at times, but not boring.

Fist one wasn't really his fault.
Second one was pretty bad though.
