Backlund and Kadri need to get going.

Huberdeau, Lindholm, and Mangiapane have still been receiving a lot of criticism but at least they have all produced.

It's the other two C's that need to get on the scoreboard.

I'm hoping things start to click and the Flames begin generating more quality at even strength tonight!

I think it’s most important the offence builds some confidence so the Flames know they can come back from 3rd period deficits. Guys like Kadri and Dube I think have the potential to score important goals so would like to see them pot some early in the season.
Go Flames!!

Not a great start for Backlund as captain *on the ice.

Having Beastlund without the lack of discipline would help the team a lot, because a better Backlund makes that whole line better as a result.

He will get back there.

They need to pair up Coronato and Huberdeau full time.

I could settle for this since a MP goal seems inevitable.

Win or lose ... if they bring the same system we saw through 40 minutes in Pittsburgh I think it points to team getting used to the system, and Huska having a system that can manage the chance balance 5 on 5.

That likely makes them a playoff team in my mind.

If it's the Pittsburgh third, or the Winnipeg game then it's either dire or a work in progress.

The team lacks speed up front still and I think that hurts things a lot.

Not that they are slow either but we really lack that forward that attacks the middle of the ice with speed. Dube needs to do it more. Same with Sharangovich and a couple others.

I know why this post is so short. Conroy is still talking to this poster and won't stop.

Kadri really scares me. I don't see a player who is interested in or committed to the little details of the game, and that has carried over from the second half of last year. He can play such a pivotal role for this team if he gets back on track, but I am just not seeing the signs of a motivated player - hopefully that changes tonight.

Phillips hat trick. Coronato hat trick. Sharangovich winner in the shootout.

If Kadri doesn't commit to more than just saying all the right things in front of the camera then he can pound sand.

AFAIC he played 5-6 games up to his standard back in last October between Mangi and Dube when the new start was fresh and exciting, but has packed it in except for picking his spots to get on the scoresheet since then.

Hardly above replacement level in the first two games

That's being incredibly generous. He's flat out been the worst player on the team.

5 on 5
90% offensive zone starts
22 CF / 34 CA (39.29%)
7 SF / 18 SA (28%)
0 GF / 2 GA (GF% 0)
11 SCF / 22 SCA (33%)
3 HDCF / 11 HDCA (21.43%)
24.55 xG%

Time to kick it into gear Naz... Huska clearly doesn't trust him defensively at the moment and I don't blame him.

Kadri, Backlund, Coleman, Dube, and Sharangovich (5 of the top 9) are yet to get on the scoresheet, and people are ragging on Huberdeau, who has 3 points in two games, and blaming him for the Flames' lack of offense so far.

People see what they want to see.

Yikes..

At least I'm not surprised. Between him, Huby and Mangiapane, I had Kadri pegged as the most likely one of the 3 not to rebound this season. Guy looked checked out in the spring when they were still in the heat of a playoff race and I think he picked the Flames solely because they were willing to pay him the big retirement contract.

Huby and Mangi even for their early warts are putting up over a PPG.
