Haven't seen too much good in 6 periods. Lucky to have 2 points.

Team looked okay at times but I think this is the way the season will go. I don't think the Flames star players are better than other teams star players, and that will likely be the difference on many nights. Huberdeau -- I know he scored tonight (attempted a pass), but man...he's just doesn't look like a guy to build your team around. The contract is scary.

Move on to Washington. A disappointing loss but the Pens know what to do to win.

So why isn't the Natural shooter of Coronato playing with the natural passer in Huberdeau? Seems like that would be something you want to figure out early in the season.

Backlund has wanted out before.

I think it’s just an example of extremely poor professional scouting - which we quite frankly already knew that the Flames suffered from.

This team will finish 6th in the Pacific. Nowhere near enough talent. Can’t create anything 5v5. Yes, two games is enough to see that.

Hopefully there’s been some systemic changes that we just haven’t seen pay off yet.

Right now the offensive structure looks identical to last season. Cycle to the point, take shots and hope some chaos follows.

No good chances off the rush. No breakaways. No cycle to help create in-close chances.

Hanifin has the physical tools to be so good but has cement for brains.

They couldn’t keep all the guys who wanted out and there were no good returns in the off-season. I’ll give him more than two games before writing him off

Season is a write off after 2 games lol.

Huberdeau sets up Sharangovich early and he misses the net on a clear chance.

Mangiapane with a terrible turnover but Huberdeau sucks lol.

That seems like a personnel problem. Plenty of that going on the year before last Johnny and Tkachuk.

Wow!!!
Relax everyone
First couple of games after some big changes that were obviously needed and wanted, it’s gonna take time
We are already a much more creative group offensively, more than enough to make up for any slip in defensive awareness we may be experiencing at the moment
And
It’s a lot more fun too

That’s a fair point, but it just unearths the sad reality that we don’t have the skill to create quality offense and I’d still really like to think Huberdeau can show himself to be more than what he seems to be…

The team is undeniably under talented in a league that continues to lean into talent-driven play.

What big changes?

They moved Toffoli and fired Sutter. No other big changes were made, and that’s why the attendance for the opener was sad and the patience with the team is going to be low.

I’m not sure where you’re seeing this creative offense?

Game 2. I’ve seen enough. Cancel the arena. Relocate the team. #### sports. I’m too emotionally fragile for this ####.

Also....young Mr Coronato has a long way to go in learning his defensive responsibilities.

But that release....its elite.
