Last one was his healthiest in a while, playing 71 games. He hasn't played 82 games since 2018/19, but he's almost always above 65 games. He just gets banged up more than most guys because he doesn't hold back. Plus, his knees have had some serious injuries over the years too.

Ekblad's lack of mobility combined with his lower body injuries is a big questionmark. I'd be hesitant to commit to him long term and I wouldn't be surprised if Zito moves him unless he re-signs cheap.

I take the point that injuries have taken a toll, but he's still a very good player, especially on offense. He had 38 points in 71 games last year despite being in and out with injuries, and the year before he had 57 points in 61 games before again...getting injured.

I think when he's in and feeling good, he's at least a great PP defenseman who's okay in his own zone and is still big and physical.

One wonders what his career would be like without those injuries. Could have easily been one of the top 3 defensemen in the game.

He's played 316 games over the last 5 seasons (covid shortened season in there), and averaged 0.62 points per game. I think he's contributing just fine thanks.

Yeah. He's hockey IQ is off the charts, I think he would be like Doughty if he had slightly better wheels. Too bad with the injuries piling up.

Lol whatever guy...he misses large amounts of games every season. To count on him as a top two dman would be a mistake moving forward. This isn't Florida Puck fyi...I will have whatever perceived bias about them I like. Would be thrilled is Tkachuk missed the playoffs.
