Huberdeau looked like he was battling hard. No complaints.

Huberdeau assisted on the game winning and insurance goals. He earned his money last night.

Like any high skilled top talent he made some risky passes that didn't work, but he also made the plays when it mattered most.

Also could have had 3 assists if Coronato finishes.

He was battling along the walls and working hard.

Not sure what the issue is, just because hes not Tkachuk people hate him for no reason.

3pt night, game winning goal, dominant in the dot. Lindy needs to string together a bunch more of these games and he will get his $9.3M is my prediction.

I really hope that $9.3 isn't with us. I love what he brings, but damn if we go that high....

I also noticed Huberdeau coming back deep on defence. He isn't cheating out there to rack up points. He also made a couple of physical plays.

The nice thing about tonight is that a hardworking player who took a tremendous amount of heat last season came out tonight, worked hard, and his two points helped the Flames win the game.

Gaudreau used to have a lot of turnovers too. You try things, you will miss on a bunch of them.

Yeah, he just needs to reduce the number of turnovers in the defensive zone

Could have had zero assists if Mangiapane doesn't make an incredible play on the winning goal and if he doesn't get a fortunate bounce off the post (after missing a wide open net).

All that said, it's good for him to get some production early in the season. Might help ease the pressure on him and quiet the doubts from last year.

Yeah, wasn't an overly impressive appearance by Huberdeau.
But not something to get down on him for yet either.
Glad he got 2 points & hopefully he can build on that.

To me that was a nice shift by all three of them.

Hard work on the ring by Lindholm to get it to Huberdeau, Huberdeau with the smart bank pass off the boards down low to Mangiapane (most guys just rifle that at the net), and then the great pass by Mangiapane with the nice finish by Lindholm.

Beauty play all around.

He’s not flashy enough for some.

Last year thats a shot on net and frozen puck.

Like I said in the other thread that goal was like the plays the old top line used to make great work by all 3.

Huberdeau with a smart bank off the boards and a great read by Lindholm and Mangiapane.

Its really what we needed more motion in the offensive zone more passing and less just shoot from wherever.

As far as first games go, that was everything a fan could hope for, surviving the rust, great goaltending from the guy every single fan was worried about, Mangiapane with a great start, Huberdeau playing well.

This team isn't going to dazzle anybody pants off, but they can potentially be an upgraded version of the 04 lunchbucket group. And it's got some good signs of being that.

Between the legs from behind the net works in the offensive zone not the defensive end lol.

We saw a similar play in the pre-season (from Ruzicka, I think) where they bounce pass the puck off the back wall to a player skating to a position behind the net. I don't recall seeing that play before - I wonder whether that's a Savard addition.

I think it was the 55 points and $10.5M cap hit for 8 years that irritated people, not lacking effort.
