As well, remember that there were years where (other than the first three rows) the 300s weren't sold, either because the seats weren't in place yet (in the 1st few years the building was open) and in the late 90's early 2000's (cause they weren't close to selling out)

Pretty sure in the late 90’s, early 2000’s the upper 300’s were closed off because the seats weren’t needed (young guns era) and then because they were all busted up (pre 04’ cup run). Even in the 04 run there were so many busted seats up there it was embarrassing haha. I always assumed they just used the 300 seats as extra stock to replace other seats in the lower bowls. Then didn’t they open them all up post lockout and kinda cleaned it up at that point.

And like others have said up top in the 300’s is no good. Sat in the last row, dead center ice for a home opener one time and I’ll never sit up there again.

There's a reason so many of us cancelled our season tickets for this year...

You can generally find tickets to Flames games for cheaper than STH pricing, which is ridiculous.

I will go to bat for the first 3 rows of the 300s... I've been in those for 23 years now and back in the day when you could walk down and sit basically wherever, we rarely felt like it was much of an upgrade.

Also, for the past couple seasons, getting rid of a pair of tickets at $40 each was an obnoxiously arduous task. For those wondering if getting tickets for that much isn't a reality, it certainly is.

The new arena is definitely going to kill my tickets, and that's sad for me. That said, if I can't unload them at $40, maybe the demand for seats like that just isn't there?

The 2nd level will likely feel a lot like the press level in the Saddledome. It will just be much more expensive.

Yup, after the new arena will probably be at least $100 for the cheapest.

I used to be able to afford going to the odd Flames game at Rexall Place, now will only go if i get offered freebies.

I guarantee you, they won't have any seats from which you can't see the scoreboard.

Not sure why anyone buys those. Why assume a risk you don't have to? Spend tens of thousands of dollars on tickets you have to babysit the sale of all year to save $60 in the playoffs? Buy the games you want to attend and have fun.

I meant height wise. The lower bowl will be huge and then a bunch of luxury levels. Of course there won’t be obstructions to the scoreboard.

It certainly won’t feel like the current second level.

If they have a suspended press box like Little Caesars (and the Saddledome), the upper deck seats will likely have their view of the scoreboard be obstructed the same.

Spoiler!

Spoiler!
I thought the new arena was only two levels, not three like the Saddledome?

Yes. Little Caesars is only 2 levels too. The number of levels doesn't matter, the position of the press box does.

My world view is probably distorted by the configuration of the Saddledome with the tiny lower bowl.

Season before last was a mix of covid and economy
last season was a mix of boring and economy

First 3 rows are a fine place to watch the game

fun fact

around 2012 you could get into a panthers game with a LOSING scratch off ticket from the state lottery. They would give you a ticket in exchange for your garbage. The fact they are up to $19 is remarkable.

No second bowl in all of North America feels as odd and removed from the action as the Saddledome press level.

I think the case for season tickets is that you can go to the games you want during the regular season (or all of them, if you really hate yourself), sell the rest to break even, and go to a prime playoff game while selling the less essential ones at a profit.

Guessing, anyway / never been in a position where this needed to be considered.

Most of the Second Level at Rogers Place feels like the PL at the Saddledome.

No, but seeing the whole arena vs. not seeing parts of it make a big difference. I remember sitting in the nosebleeds in Nashville, and you feel way more immersed with the rest of the crowd.

In the PL, it feels like you're cut off from the rest of the arena. Not seeing the jumbotron makes a HUGE difference IMO.

Once flames rebuild, no more crappy PL tickets and we won't have $31 tickets!
