It's way more likely that the delivery person simply put the notice on your door without even attempting a delivery. That happened to us, but our son noticed someone at the front door and my wife caught FedEx red handed trying to say delivery was attempted. He offered no apology.

Yeah. I have a video doorbell camera. I'm home 100% of the time during the day and have a record of when the doorbell is rung. Both FedEx and ups will drop off a delivery attempt notice without ringing the doorbell.

That the Israel thread got locked. I was learning a lot and I actually didn’t think the heat was too much, despite a few posters saying so. It was no different than all the political threads on this site over the last few years, in terms of personal insults and despite the insults people were still actually engaging in somewhat useful debate. Hope it isn’t down for long and hope people come back a bit more respectful to each other.
Lastly, this whole “stolen land” in Canada stuff also GMG. Agreements were signed, land traded under agreement. Where there are no contracts or treaties governing such lands, we have legit land rights issues today (as there should be if you want the rule of law to properly govern) and the country really is trying to sort it out. Billions and billions and billions of dollars are still being transferred today, and Canadians don’t even know about it. Settlement agreements left right and centre, tons of money. Still not doing any effective favour for Canadians. So no, it’s not that the country was outright stolen and furthermore I got news for the bleeding hearts out there- there isn’t a piece of land on Earth that wasn’t as some point “stolen” (fought for and ceded through war or treaty). So I really just do not understand Canadians desire to question our right to live on lands we were born on. Seems really odd to me, the way Canadians treat lands in this country. I know this will be viciously unpopular, and I will assume I am uneducated but I don’t get it. Stolen lands the same way Europe shifted hands every couple hundred years. So who is the rightful landowner of Europe? The Celts? The French? The Germans? Everyone has had a run at it. Not a lot different here but modern day Canadians should apologize and think about giving it back. Patently absurd. If Canada was a person we’d be a teenager sitting in our bedroom hating ourselves for no reason.

This is Canada Post too, but at least you can just go and get it later that day or next day from the nearby Shopper’s Drugmart.

I had a Loomis driver leave 2 attempted delivery notices on one visit. I was paying attention, one day there was nothing on the door, next day there were 2 with different dates. Sonofabitch made me drive to the airport to pickup.

Lots to unpack there but as a starter we haven’t really lived up to our end of the bargain all that well. In addition, not everyone ceded land via a treaty, and so they truly are still displaced. Add to that we also added a few things to the deal that weren’t quite contemplated- like stealing their children from them, beating them and raping them along the way. The economic situation of our indigenous population is a national shame - can you even for a second imagine the same number of white communities not having clean drinking water?
All that to say is we also need to figure out pathways forward, together. There is much to be learned from each other and much to be gained from helping that population take a step forward in our society.

I’d like to complain about the cost of university applications these days. Over $200 per university in Ontario. It’s like Ticketmaster took over their application process.

I'll second that!
You want to apply to a number of schools to cover your bases.
Some schools will apply that application fee to your tuition if you're accepted or if you decide to go to those schools, but if you apply to 3 Universities you pay 3 application fees, you can only attend 1 school so those other fees are flushed.
That is some serious bull####!

Lots to hate on the Liberals for, but they put their mind to this one and are getting it done. Finally.
Pretty great to see so much progress.

Canadians recognizing colonial violence isn't being an emotional teenager, it i being an adult and taking accountability over our actions.

Quoting myself.
Technically my PAL has expired so I would not be able to do anything with my firearms at the moment. Today the Firearms Centre phoned my wife to ask if she had any concerns about the renewal. So I guess that's a win? At least I know the application is still active.

Is grocery shopping becoming intolerable, or is it just me? Everything is so busy no matter what time, people are pushy and have zero sense of self-awareness. The parking lots are a nightmare. The quality of produce is just garbage--especially at the handful of places around me (Co-ops and Safeways), I assume cause they can't move it at their prices.
Walmart, Superstore are just the worst in every sense so I don't go there. Costco is a necessity every few months, but you used to be able to go on a Tuesday morning and it was dead - no longer.
I get 90% of my produce at Crossroads market as I find the quality is better, but even they've been slipping and their prices are getting nuts. If I can't get there on Friday before 10:30am, I skip it for the week.

I started putting a note on the door and that seems to help.
To delivery person:
I am inside. Please ring door bell upon arrival and I will come out.

I think its because of Work-From-Home there no longer is that 'safe time' to go when everyone is busy.
Its thrown scheduling into chaos! Its anarchy out there!

Save-On delivery solves this. It might take a couple of tries before you get good at it, but once you have a system down, it's pretty slick.
