They didn’t pretend otherwise.
They stayed away from long term contracts, have Bedard and great prospects, many draft picks over the next two years, and will have lots of cap space when needed.

As bad as the hawks were last year, they always seemed to be working hard.
I expect they had the worse roster in the league.
The owners may have been tanking, but the players weren’t.
